Sex is how we propogate our species. It feels good because making sure there will be more humans is even more important than the survival of any given individual. I've always imagined sex with the intent to concieve must be pretty darned good.

Sex is also how we carry on our genes, and thus is a major driving force for us. Much of rascism can be attributed back to wanting ones own genes to be carried on over someone else's. A white man would be mad enough to kill at the idea of a black or Indian having sex with a white woman, but would feel no compunction about raping his slaves or the native women, because then his genes would be carried on.

It is also the driving force behind jealousy, as indviduals want only their genes to carry on, and no one else's.

Sex alters brain chemistry and makes individuals more pliable and receptive. Sex has been used as a tool for manipulation and an emotional weapon for centuries.
