I've had Ambien scripts on and off since my 30s. Went through a bout of anxiety/depression in my mid 30s, after my divorce, and my primary at the time had the attitude, "Sleep is king." He made sure I would get it despite the mental struggle. Was on it almost daily during those days, then tapered off, and only used it intermittently afterwards for the occasional bout of insomnia. Never deliberately abused it but I definitely met the Ambien Walrus a few times. Google him if you're unfamiliar. Nothing like waking up with Wendy's in your bed/on the nightstand and having no recollection of how it got there...
Anyhow, I met my current partner about five years ago and she has a similar backstory with the drug. In her case, PTSD from the military was the origin story, and the insomnia therefrom. So we'd occasionally swap pills if one or the other was having insomnia, or some life situation (long haul flight) where it might be useful. One day, she suggested trying it for sex...
I've had sex on a lot of different drugs and none of them compare to Ambien. It's difficult to put it into words, but when we arrive at the same place together, it's this starry dream like trance state, where our mind, bodies, and souls are perfectly in sync. I've read that some people get extra horny on it. That hasn't been our experience, but it definitely brings us closer to together. The entire outside world (including the passage of time) dissolves away until it's just the two of us, wrapped up in each other. We usually end up going at it for hours, slow and sensual like, falling asleep/waking back up still wrapped up in each other.
It's something we like so much that we had to put brakes on it. We only allow it to happen once a month, for fear of it losing that magical effect.
Anyone else try this? It's definitely something that requires complete trust, I wouldn't suggest it early in a relationship or with a hookup, but when that trust is established there's nothing else like it, IMHO. Our dream would be to bring a third into it but that's probably as likely as winning the Mega Millions or finding a unicorn, lol.
