Sex in the 1800s

It was so interesting that I had to print it out, so that I could read the entire chapter offline. Thanks for sharing it!

I hope they covered

Medical treatment for hysteria.

To give a clue it involved the doctor's fingers in the ladies vagina

You could have saved it to your hard drive to read it later, there was no need to use all that paper and ink.

This is slightly before the 1800's, but on my recent trip to London, I was tipped to the existence of a periodical called Harris' Book Of Covent Garden Ladies, which was a catalog published annually in the mid-to-late 18th century of sex workers who plied their trade in the namesake district of London. Covent Garden now, of course, is one of the world's most high-end shopping districts.

The ladies of the evening featured are described in poetry form (!) extolling their various sexual talents, and often with prices. The first woman so mentioned was given a cost of three guineas (or £3.15 in British decimalized currency), at a time when probably 99% of British workers didn't make that much in a year.

The 1788 edition of this bizarrely fascinating work is available in the public domain via Project Gutenberg.

This is interesting. Complete with the street addresses of the girls. No hiding behind email or burn phones. The fun and completeness of the descriptions are much like many escort websites.
