Like the marijuana coops in Calif, where if one has an excess product, they can share it with someone in need. You have to have a medical necessity and get a doctor's certificate to enable you to buy the product. Then you go to a co-op center, browse the merchandise, select what you need at the price you can afford, and the goods are delivered to you at the price of handling (supposedly). (Did you see the final voting for Survivor, Nicaragua? Fabio got a vote with "420" written in the corner. Know what that means?)

Well, everyone needs sex, and with the proliferation of disease and aids and the trouble and cost of dating, sex co-ops would be a good idea. They would NOT be whore houses since there would be medical necessity only. All members would be required to have testing done regularly. They could have books and/or video like the dating services where members could share details about themselves and their "needs". Other members could then select the person of their choice to provide them services and when the other party agrees, a contract is formed and the money and service is provided.

This is NOT like a brothel or an escort service because they are one-way sales transactions. The Co-ops would be two-way, consentual, clean, no strings attached, find someone with the same desires or fetish clubs.

Otherwise, everybody is either buying it, selling it, or trying to stamp it out altogether if it isn't married people doing it for reproductive purposes only (as if).

The only people who still do it for fun are probably married people, and they don't have the time or energy for it.

It's still not a bad story idea however, it could be the basis for a real multi-character soap opera.

I think the difference I meant was that these people don't know each other.
It's not like dating or swinging at all, which are social activities.

I was actually thinking of a very old thread here called something like "Looking for a certain kind of story" or similar. It was about stories where the people in the future somewhere, would have sex anytime, anywhere. They still enjoyed it but there were no moral or societal restrictions and it was naturally accepted for people to ask for sex any time, anywhere and get it. I wanted to read some of those and maybe write one like it.

I wondered what would be so wrong if my wife would tell her horny, unsatisfied married female friend that I was likewise unsatisfied and hook us up. There wouldn't be any pretense of deep love or commitment, just fulfilling a need. Of course, jealousy and STDs and other aspects of reality intrude. But it is an exciting idea.

And take the average, slightly overweight, 50 year old wife. You could pass her without notice a hundred times in a day. But if she is presented to you as a horny, unsatisfied woman, looking just the same, you suddenly have interest and arousal.

And imagine if your wife were to set you up with an unsatisfied friend. She could tell her friend all the things she knows I like and don't like. And she can tell me whatever she knows about her unsatisfied friend's desires. Like a hot blind sex date.

But I think strangers would be better.
All this information would be contained in the data files at the coop's computer. So, let's say a guy or girl wants something. They do a search and if say, 75% of each party's needs are matched, a contact is set up, like a coffee date meeting. If no one objects, then, they go get it on. The coop earns a fee for their service, but they are NOT acting as the pimp. Maybe the hookups could be there, like in a bar or coffeehouse setting, where they can go to a back room if they want privacy, or not if they don't. I'm thinking of the smoke shops in Amsterdam where the smoking can occur right there after purchasing the product, in a safe environment.

In this world, women have evolved where their sexual needs are not suppressed, or they don't need to be, since sex is now an accepted and desireable thing. This is understood and the service helps people get to their desireable mate or hookup quicker without all those dates, dinners, talking, lying, etc.
Yes, like a hot blind sex date is a good way to put it.

And, all this talk about spouses, wining, horny mates's needs not being met: In my story there are relationships, and there are sexual hookups, and they need not be with the same person. And if they are with a different person, the other knows that it has no affect on their marriage and such.

We have places like that in Europe. They are called "hotels" and there is a part of the building where you can eat and/or drink; then if you are so inclined, you can rent a room with a bed in it.

It is a book by Aldous Huxley about a future society where sex is just another legitimate pleasure to be shared with anyone you fancy. Babies are not the result of sex, but of an artificial process in a bottle. Well-endowed women are considered the best, and the highest compliment a man can pay a woman is to say she is "very pneumatic".

Heinlein's, Stranger in a Strange Land is another one, less cynical, it's often cited for it's Libertarian ideals, and it's poly marriages, which operate much like co-ops. Has a very 70's California vibe, and has been a fairly influential book, often serving as a model for poly marriages.

In the real world, this would be a brothel, or a dating site, or a place where one person gets a benefit and the other gets paid for it. That is NOT what I mean.

My coop would be open, free sex between two (or more ) consenting people.
Both parties would be members looking for sex but not wanting to take the old routes to find it through hit or miss dating, call girls, stud service, social gatherings, etc. No, they are in a new world where sex is open and accepted as a need of life and the desire for it is not looked down on.
So, I could go in and say, "I'm looking for a petite redhead between 30 and 50 who might like sex in public places, like trains or parks where there is danger of being discovered, and who likes oral and PIV sex." If there is someone in the database that meets this requirement and she likes my profile, we are hooked up and meet face to face, like in a coffee shop, which would be a good place to start our fantasy if we both agree. Like, I could hold her hand, play with her leg under the table, and we take it from there.
No lost time, no payment (except to the coop for their service), no commitment, no playing games like people do in society.

Any more ideas to add?

I have this vague idea of a family (with kid being 18 or older of course) signing up together. And then taking StrongMaster7's "blind date" comment seriously, members of said family being hooked up by the co-op. I have this delightful image of them complaining, since the point of joining the co-op is so they could fuck someone new.

Question: do you envision the co-op being unique or common? And do you see it as being one single huge co-op, or a bunch of smaller ones.

Further idea: people move into a new neighborhood and shop around for a new co-op to join?
