Seven Deadly Sins

Pride is excessive belief in one's own abilities, that interferes with the individual's recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity.

Envy is the desire for others' traits, status, abilities, or situation.

Gluttony is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.

Lust is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body.

Anger is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury. It is also known as Wrath.

Greed is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual. It is also called Avarice or Covetousness.

Sloth is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work.

glutony is a problem. i need to loose about 30 pounds and don't seem to have any will power to do so. i've pretty much got the rest of them under control.

I don't think there are too many who have a problem with Lust around here.

Sloth is my biggest problem right about now. I thought it was interesting that sloth was defined (on the web page I found this stuff) as avoidance of spiritual work as well as physcial labor.

Lessee, following your checklist:

Pride. I have no ego problem. Mine is bigger than anyone else's.

Envy. Your stuff is your stuff. I'll just use it when you aren't. As regards traits, status or abilities, please see my entry under "pride"

Gluttony. I need it all. therefore the desire is neither inordinate nor the consumption excessive.

Lust. As far as this is concerned, I do not believe the word "inordinate" applies.

Anger. Only when my desires on the other six are not met.

Sloth. Can I answer this one later?

I would have to say I am working on none of them.

I have no pride left, which is the only reason I can admit I'm terribly envious of those who get deliciously_naughty's attentions. I have the greedy desire to engage in lustfull gluttony and can only hope no anger is taken out on me for this admission.

If so, I'll probably end up working on sloth.
