Serious question...no really.

Is it working for you? I think I'm having problems with it, have you ever missed a dose?

It seems to work great for me when I am taking it regularly, but I can't take it with my pain killers so whenever I gt a bad migrane I end up missing doses. What kinda problems ya having?

You know the feeling you get if you miss a dose, sort of like vertigo? I get like that and my mood swings are way out of control. I'm on 150mg, not sure if they can up that or if I should see about going to something else...again. I used to be on Zoloft.

I am on the three a day plan. Basically morning noon & evening. i don't have much trouble with the vertigo when I miss a dose cause I am also on staggered doses of remeron and Xanax er. But I do get the mood swings. If they are swinging hard I would ask my doc, that's a side effect that is supposed to gt mileder over time.

Abby, I've been on Effexor for three or so years now and recently had the dosage increased. I've never had any side effects and I take it just once a day. But if I go more than a couple hours past the usual time my body lets me know (yeah, that vertigo kind of feeling, but just enough, not scary). I also know that Effexor is not like other anti-d's when going off it, one needs to do it gradually. I'm at 300 m's. Take care, P.

Thanks guys, I'm going to have to make a dr.s appointment soon. I just needed to know if anyone else went through this.

Mwah:kiss:

Abs, I have no experience with that one (haven't made it to the E's yet; I was hoping to coordinate my try-outs of new meds with Math's Dictionary, and now I'm stuck at "C" for Celexa) but be very, very careful about missing or reducing a dose, okay? I've only heard one negative about Effexor, which is that the withdrawal side effects are not to be toyed with.

Some drugs are more forgiving than others in that area. Prozac can take weeks to leave your system; it was made that way to allow a margin of error for patients who were likely to forget a dose. Others, like Celexa, disappear from your system overnight, which is considered a benefit for the few people who have a sexual side effect and want to skip a dose for dates. The downside is the need to take it at the same time each day.

Just be careful, okay?

I will, thanks babe.

I had some real problems when I came off Effexor, and I think it's pretty well-documented that you have to be very very careful in weaning yourself off it and do just what your doctor says. It can have some pretty bad side-effects when you're coming off it: sleepiness or insomia, restlessness, and some pretty brutal mood swings.

I'm finding this to be a difficult drug right now, I'm wondering if I need to switch. I'm keeping up with my doses, but I don't feell any better, it started gradually, but now....yech.
Do you have to come off of this before you can start something else?

Snooper, thank you for your concern but I often find perverse entertainment in CV and take some pride in trying to best his lewdness and/or derision. He's grown on me (ooer).

Perdita :)
