Many years ago there was a group of people that were called SOLIDER, this was an organization of the best warriors. Among them was Sephiroth, he of course was the best and Cloud was beside him at second best. Among the misery of the world due to the mako reactors Sephiroth met a young girl, her name was Grace. But to Sephiroth he always called her Gracie, she was a beautiful girl with blue eyes that were pure and true. A beautiful tan completion. She was always there for him, but after the village of Clouds that he burned down which was also her home she followed him when Cloud wanted to kill him.

They had been together up till the end, when Sephiroth was killed the first time she thought she was going to melt and die, her heart broken, but inside her she could feel his presence inside her body, making her warm, it was then she knew she loved him. When he was back due to a clone body but his own mind and soul was awakened he found her, she was no fighter but because of her feelings she did what she could for him. Cloud was there the second time, killing him and the rest that had something to do with Jenova.

Now she lay in the cave where the last body was, she was frozen in animation so she wouldn't age and become to old. She was 20 now, this all started when she was about 15. She lay asleep waiting for Sephiroth to come to her because she knew Sephiroth can feel her but she cannot feel him.

Blackness and cold beyond cold. An age spent traversing the lifestream, gathering my strength, marshalling my power. Waiting, waiting and waiting some more for the time to be right.

I wandered without form, immersed in the guts of the planet and slowly I began to realise there was a mystery to solve here, the secret of my continued existence. It was not simple power that preserved my consciousness when others faded to nothing and were reborn, the planet itself had a hand in my eternal cycle of death and renewal. But why?

The answer came when I realised I was not alone in the lifestream. There was Jenova, my mother, of course. Her cells persisted because they were alien and the lifestream could not break them down. In this way they passed to those unlucky ones who then inherited mother's legacy. The planet used those cells to inflict geostigma on mankind, a reminder of what messing with the lifestream will cause.

But there was yet another, Aeris, the girl of that ancient race who thwarted my plans to destroy the planet. Whilst Jenova was simply a collection of maurading cells, Aeris retained her consciousness and could even talk to selected heroes by way of dream vision. Aeris gathered together the souls of heroes for preservation, so that planet would never want for defenders when the time came.

Of all those alive within the lifestream, they all continued on at the Planets sufferance. They were the Planets priestesses or defences - except for me. Why should it be that one enemy alone was preserved? And then I understood.

I was the scourge. My job, when released from my home in the lifestream, was to harry the citizens of the Planet and teach them what true evil was. I bore no love for the world I stood on, and would gladly destroy it to advance my goals. And always Aeris would find new heroes and guide them to me. And always I would fall - until the next time. Unless I won.

I was, once again, merely a lever in someone elses hand.

I raged for a time, but eventually came to accept my fate, was I not Sephiroth - stronger than mere men, powerful and deadly? One day fate, meeting my gaze, would flinch and the heroes would fall before me. One day I would have my revenge on Planet, Heroes and the teeming masses of humanity.

And then, one day, the lifestream faded around me and I awoke, coughing and spluttering, in a dark cave. I had returned again. I was reborn.

Something woke her, she didn't understand it as she slowly sat up and sighed, she heard something and since she was the holder of Sephiroth weapon she took it in her hand and her graceful walks went to the voice. She had grown strong when Sephiroth was killed every time she wanted to be strong like him, her beauty never changed as she stayed in the dark and her eyes light up for him.

"Well it appears the great one has awoken again" Her voice soft but true the sound of her coming in the darkness there was no light, but all of a sudden a dark light surrounded the area and before Sephiroth was Grace but as she walked towards him her outfit changed something sephiroth would wear if he was a woman, her black hair had silver streaks in it and his sword in her hand the blade resting on her shoulder as she smiled some.

She saw he was nude and looked at him softly she stood her ground as she slowly closed her eyes, her hand out in front of her as she began to speak, but as she did her voice echoed and she didn't speak in english but in Latin.

Yet to return the shadowed one
who quests for his true power
Rumbles the dark hearth and
Jenova queen of the dark has raised finally her army...
Apetrion, king of light beckons, at the base of the rainbow they meet.
Against the abominable wave together they fight.
Jenova's lake boils, lights great tree doth fall.
Power, all now to droplets turned in the temple of the ancient ones, returns to nothing this world of shadowless ones.
Now the shadowed one has returned. Who quests for the ancient lands"

As she spoke Sephiroth body glowed and clothing he always wore appeared on him, she smiled some. She had learned a lot since he had last been alive, she held out his sword across her hands as s he offered his blade to her.

"Its good to see you again my friend" She said in high respect she had hoped he would be impressed.

Sephiroth

He was clothed. He was greeted. This rebirth would prove easier than those of his past, it seemed. For a moment his memories clutched tightly at the identity of the dark angel who had done these things for him, but soon that too was restored to him. His little Grace, from the village of Clouds.

My how she'd grown.

Not in years, not that he remembered. There were a few physical changes, to be sure, now he looked, but not many. The hair, of course, a certain poise, a style in the way she spoke and a quality to the way she looked at him. He'd saved her life, she'd tried to pay him back a thousand times.

He stretched, massively, and took the offered blade with equal ceremony. "How do I repay you, little one, for staying so faithfully by my side? For your patience and loyalty?" Repaying loyalty, he knew, was important. If Shinra had repaid his, then perhaps it would still be operating, perhaps it's president wouldn't have had to be killed.

She smiled "Since I was fifteen Sephiroth all ive ever wanted is to be with you, I may never be your equal in power but maybe in soul" She said softly as she looked away and sighed some. "I do what ive always done for you because Im in love with you" She slowly looked into his green eyes "Love has made me as strong as I am today even my power matches that of Clouds now, Love has never made me weak, those of true power accept love and wield it with his heart" She smiled some.

"All ive ever wanted is to be with you always"

Sephiroth

Sephiroth smiled a little wryly. "In my experience it is a singularly unreliable emotion. I cannot count the number of people I have seen die for it, the worst sort of wastrel lives for it, and it has a habit of fleeing just when you need it the most."

Slowly he paced, getting used to physical movement again, feeling the return of strength to his limbs. He stretched, essayed a few swings with Masamune, to test his swordarm and then nodded, satisfied that everything was as it should be.

"Clone bodies are so much more convenient than summonings. I shall have to make sure that there are still one or two hidden away somewhere. No doubt Hojo was paranoid enough to do so."

Finally he took a seat on a rocky ledge and turned to where Grace had been standing. "Now, tell me what has changed while I've been away. The sooner we start, the more chance we have of succeding this time."

She smiled some "I have not seen the changes with my own eyes, I put myself to sleep after your death the second time, I got visions instead" She said softly she looked around the cave with her eyes. "Let me show you" She said with a gesture of her hands another sword appeared and began to draw something it was a circle with stars as she backed away.

She closed her eyes as she spoke something rather jumbled words and soon a blackness covered the cavern and soon the world was before them. "I already know there are two other bodies I made sure only I knew where they were and of course you will know" She said with a flick of her wrist there was Cloud and a few others.

"There was a man that looked like you, but had shorter hair, his name Kadaj, he wanted to bring forth Jenova again, he was like you but not nearly as powerful, Jenova see's you sephiroth as the chosen child" She walked up to him. "You are the perfection and Kadaj wanted to be the perfection, there was always you tho" She smiled.

"I didn't work for him of course, my loyalties are always to you, but Cloud killed him and now they are looking for your bodies to destroy, however I knew this was coming and only my blood will give them the truth path" She smirked at Sephiroth.

"They wait for your resurrection"

He watched the little presentation intently. Much of this, of course, he already knew. He'd been present when Cloud's blades had stolen Kadaj's life and felt the bite of each attack. He'd been hoping that time and relaxation had dulled the man's edge and made him weak - it had been so with the others, he'd sensed, but not with Cloud.

"Cloud is a problem. He is fanatical in his hatred of me and more than willing to sacrifice his short-term happiness to maintain his fighting edge. Cloud must be dealt with - but how?"

He mused, stroking his jaw

"Two more bodies? Is that all? We'll have to start looking for genetecist's I don't want to have to rely on someone like Kadaj again, unless there's no alternative. I don't think planet will suffer me to remain unborn within her forever, but Mother's legacy is a little unreliable and last time I was born into a fight I couldn't possibly have won."

She smiled "No need to, I think you would be impressed with what I can do now, Im 18 now, im not the little girl you knew" She said with a grin on her face she ran her fingers through her hair and relaxed a bit, as she flicked her wrist and the cave light up. "Ive beaten Cloud, well wounding him at least not sure if you consider that beaten" She looked down "I will do what I can to help you so another body won't be needed"

She smirked happily "Maybe I should be tested only one way to find out, against the all mighty one" She bowed her head

"Very well then, Gracie who is eighteen now and doesn't want to be treated like a little girl anymore, let's see what you've got, shall we?"

He spoke in a tone of amused tolerance, but the stance he took as he moved out to the center of the cave was focused and tight, and his eyes never left hers. The tip of Masamune reached out, eager for blood again, and Sephiroth's boots scuffed the shale floor of the chamber.

She smiled and nodded she twirled her sword around and soon her sword became two as she pointed both at him and ran right for him jumping up high into the air as both blades glowed with a black glow one sword fell into the ground causing the ground to shake as she twirls around fast her blade soon had lighting surrounding it as she struck Sephiroth sword. And the sword in the ground shot right out of the ground and went for his back.

First there was the parrying of the direct attack - that was quite easy, it was clearly not where she was concentrating.

The sword she had seemingly discarded was the key - and as it shot towards his back, he was already flickflacking under it, letting it ruffle his coat and spin through the white strands of his hair back towards her.

"What's wrong with learning to fight with one sword these days? Afraid you'll be outmatched unless you have tricks to fall back on? Why don't you stop trying to impress me, and try to hit me?"

She smirked "Whats wrong friend, afraid two may out do you?" She reached her hand as the sword came to her. And the swords turned into one the sword much longer as she held it up. A mixed energy was around her and surrounding her sword. Grace locked her eyes on him she made a slashing gesture as an attack went right for him, fire and lighting mixed as she goes in to slash at him.

"They'd be fearsome, if you knew how to wield them."

The lightning he parried but fire, well fire had always been his friend. He simply reached into himself until he found the place where the fire lived and then used that rapport to jerk aside her fiery attack so that it sailed past him.

Stepping in, he used his superior height to pin her to the wall, body stretched against body. As she squirmed to get away he grinned "I thought that was what you wanted? Or are you too angry? Are you fighting angry, Grace?"

She grunted as she felt him pin her to the wall she searched his green eyes, soft for her always for her she stopped fighting him and closed her eyes before she knew it she vanished from his grip and reappeared behind him she smiled some. "Sephiroth..." She spoke and saw him turn around she closed her eyes she found herself remembering something she had forgot long ago.

"Fighting with rage is key if you know how to wield it right" She dropped her sword when she opened her eyes and slowly walked towards him a light appeared in her hand as a sword came and she held the sword in her hand, it was a sword just as long as Sephiroth sword. It wasn't the same but it was just as powerful. She stopped her eyes dead on him

"I remember what you taught me" She said with a sly smirk on her face

She raised her sword up over her head as a dark feel was felt something evil, something powerful, she harness the inside of herself, the rage controlled her sword glowed then a rather circular attack started to take form. She slashed her sword in the form of the star of david, the slash marks forming so he could see the attack. The sword went over her head again in one hand then her other hand went to the handle of the sword. Holding the sword flat over her chest then pointed it towards Sephiroth.

The power she had was something someone that had nothing to do with Jenova shouldn't have and yet she did, the attack fell from her sword and went right for Sephiroth, a power mixed with dark, holy power the ground started to shake as it took her all to make something that powerful.

She twirled around with her sword pointed at him ready for what he may do

He recognised powerful Dark Materia magic. What had this girl been poking around in while he'd been away from this world? What had she gotten mixed up in?

Still, Dark Materia wasn't worrying to him. Fire or Ice he would have had to have done something about, but Dark Materia wouldn't harm him. Would barely ruffle his hair. He almost WAS Dark Materia after all that time in the Lifestream, his essence being refined by the Planet.

"Oh that's right, Grace. You try to drown the sea. You try to burn the flame. You try to swallow the shadow with shade."

As her power washed over him, Sephiroth's smirk broke free to a terrible smile, and then he let his mirth bubble over in a terrible laugh that rang around the close confines of the cave.

Even before the dark wave had vanished, the point of Masamune was spearing out of it, directly for the girl stood before him.

She looked at him and dived out of the way landing hard on her side looking up at him, he was so powerful. She had no idea how to over come him, she slowly stood up on her feet and closed her eyes placing her hands out in front of her as she concentrated something behind her appeared it was a summons spirit of Shiva. She opened her eyes she lifted her hands over her head the shiva behind her did the same, Shiva was transparent.

With a gesture of her hand she casted a mighty powerful spell right for Sephiroth "Diamond Dust!" She shouted as ice shot right for him creating a tomb around his body, but he broke out of it within a few moments, she was growing weak but didn't allow herself to show it.

Ice cascaded down the walls and slid over the floor - which was now obscured in a haze from the sudden drop in temperature. Sephiroth's leather creaked alarmingly - stiffened by the sudden cold - but his movements flowed as naturally as before.

Gazing at the summoning behind Grace, Sephiroth narrowed his eyes. "Leave us. This is a private matter." and, after a short pause, Shiva flowed away, dissipating.

He turned his attention to his wayward apprentice. "Decision time, Grace. How serious do you want this to be? Just a paddling or are you looking to go all the way?"

She looked down hearing what he asked her now was time to show her strength, she opened her eyes and bolted right for him "Gloves are off!" She growled and her body glowed as a familiar limit break was seen as she began to strike him all over as fast as she possibly could but because she didn't want him to die she held back and shot passed him breathing hard as she slowly turned to look at Sephiroth.

Great wounds opened up on Sephiroth's body, gouts of blood splattering the floor. Each of the smaller energy blades had arrowed in from a different direction and, as she guessed, this attack did not play to his strengths in the slightest. However, there was one difference from last time.

Two of the blades had not pierced him - they were caught in his hands, held clear from his body, and they winked out of existence as he tossed them lightly away.

Carmine blood stained his silver hair. His armour was shredded and useless, barely sufficient to preserve dignity.

Holding Masamune at an angle, he pushed towards her, the steps obviously requiring effort. "I'm not the only one you've been learning from, I see. Cloud is faster though, I'm afraid. Grace. You've been a. Very. Very. Bad girl."

Holding her eyes with his allowed him to close the distance. Despite his injuries, Masamune moved fast enough to spear her upper thigh, easily puncturing her own armour in the process and inflicting a messy, painful but not life threatening wound.

She looked at him "Cloud never tough me anything, you should know I pick up moves faster then some" She winched a little as she felt him cut her deeply. "I learned everything I could from your enemies so that I can help you" She placed her hand on the side of his face and once she had her body glowed and so didn't his and there wounds healed just as fast as they were given. "My Legions is always to you, you know that"

With a clang Masamune dropped to the floor and he wrapped his arms around her.

"Let's try it your way then. You'll be by my side, facing the same dangers I face and working towards the same goal I seek. Loyalty I will reward with love. Treason with death."

To seal their understanding he brough his mouth down hard on hers, kissing her fiercely, almost painfully.

Grace was surprised at what he said but when his lips against hers, her eyes went wide, but she smiled and rested her hands on his hips as she returned the kiss, feeling the power in the kiss, she smiled happily not wanting to let go but would stop when he did, she looked into his eyes.

His arm came around her waist drawing her in tighter against him, their battle forgotten now.

There was no resistance in her, she bent to him as willingly as she claimed she would, and Sephiroth wondered again at the chance act of mercy that had earned him this tireless defender and helper.

Lifting both arms, combing fingers through her hair, down her shoulders, on down her arms and to her hips, he continued to kiss her. Finally he relinquished his hold on her and stepped back.

"So. That decision is made then."

She smiled enjoying his touch, his lips against her own, in that moment she saw him in a different light. He was an angel to her, she looked into his green eyes as she placed her hand on the side of his face. She placed her hands on his chest as she nodded. "Sephiroth, as long as air passes through your lungs I will always stay by your side and beyond, nothing will get in the way, you will have revenge if you seek it"
