Sending lots of prayers/hopeful thoughts....

It is so scary, my entire extended family lives in that area along with a lot of friends. I still haven't heard from a few.

I just saw that a few minutes ago. A bridge collapse is one of my worst fears. I used to think it was irrational, but I'm wondering if it's not so irrational now. :(

Sending prayers/thoughts/good vibes to all involved and their families.

Thanks, at this point I have heard that most of my family is safe, but my best friend and her husband were going to the baseball game tonight and they are the ones I haven't heard from. Hopefully they just can't hear their cell phones in the stadium.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the residents of Minneapolis. I will pray for them as well..

A bridge disaster terrifies me. On May 9, 1980, I crossed over the Sunshine Skyway bridge southbound from St. Petersburg on my way to Sarasota a few minutes after 6:30 a.m. About an hour later, the southbound span was in the water, and 35 people were dead. Had I not gone in to work early so I could get off early that day, I would have been crossing the bridge about the time the Summit Venture hit it.

I hope all your family and friends are safe.

Keeping my fingers crossed there are no more deaths to report.

Me and mine are safe and nowhere near it - very scary and very infuriating.

Terrorists don't scare me. Local government scares me.

northwoods, it went down at 6:05 apparently - I hope they are OK. I don't know how many times a month I must have ridden over that thing myself.

The game was due to start at 7:10 so they would have been on their way their... Thank you for your thoughts..

I"m talking to a friend who's whole family is in that area - she just finally got in contact with the last one, everyone's fine.

I just woke to the news.....sending everyone positive thoughts and well wishes :rose:

I will like to send my thoughts to everyone who lives in Minneapolis.

Caz :rose:

Thoughts and prayers for you northwoods and anyone else with friends and family in the Twin Cities that you have not heard from. And condolences to the friends and families of those who perished in the accident.

Serious long-ass pins and needles! I'm glad she's ok, and I'm of course saddened that people were lost.

It is so tragic...our thoughts and positive vibes to all. Seems there are a lot of reports that there have been questions about its safety for some time..why do they not do something until the worst happens?

money, the root of all evil.. I truly think that they thought that they had more time to fix it before anything tragic happened. Apparently the were wrong, when I got a hold of my friend she told me that her husband was on the next bridge over only 5 minutes before I-35 fell. How scary for her and him. I am just so thankful that all the people I love made it through alive.
I hope that this will make the government act now before anything like this happens again.

Yep, I was watching a programme a couple of weeks ago which said the Forth Road Bridge of Edinburgh was also experiencing problems with corrosion in the cables which suspend it. They have placed microphones inside and can hear periodic 'pinging' which is cable snapping and are debating whether they can/have halted the corrosion or if it will continue to deteriorate and if so when it will be undeniably unsafe for vehicles. Not sure I will go on it if I get to visit the area as I already have a dislike of being on bridges in cars for any amount of time, especially when you have to stop due to traffic or holdups....gets me edgy..knowing there is already problems is enough to tell me it is not for me.

I'm not grandstanding, I swear. But the anti-tax sentiment in this town is to blame - both parties, everyone who wants something for nothing.
