A bitterly partisan battle ended yesterday when the U.S. Senate passed the controversial McCain-Chafee Coupon Redemption Act. The first coupon will be redeemed at Hooters for one free appetizer-sized portion of Spicy Buffalo-Style Chicken Wings with the purchase of a pitcher of domestic beer. The value of the coupon could not be confirmed by press time. Funding for the pitcher of beer was provided for in an addendum to the Healthy Forest Restoration Act which was signed into law in 2003.

An earlier coupon, the hotly debated 2 Cans of Beanie Weinies for the Price of 1, expires at midnight Saturday, and will be invalid before President Bush can sign the McCain-Chafee Act into law. The coupon had an estimated retail value of 33 cents, based on the average price of a 6 oz. can of Beanie Weinies at twelve randomly audited supermarkets.

I ran into a fun fact yesterday: you can rearrange Spiro Agnew to spell Grow A Penis.

But you can't put it back the other way. Scary!

Can't really blame them for this one, shereads.

Federal finances are in such a mess, they need to redeem coupons.

They're probably checking all the sofas in the capital building for spare change as well.

;)

The pink [or lilac?] 'whats' are gaining.

Where can I get my coupon? Is hooters that place the ex-playboy chick that married a rich older man is promoting? Are beanie weanies low carb? Does it matter, if the coupon is expired? Doesn't the US have a recommended retail price that they could have got from the manufacturer, rather than travelling around to different supermarkets? How can the coupons [I'm assuming they are paper] contribute to healthy forests? Did the US really pass an act to save the trees and also provide money to buy beers from coupons from trees? I thought the US had a weight problem? Unless the beer is low carb?

I did that myself, in my capacity as a journalist. The figures the U.S. government used in its calculations are undisclosed for national security reasons.

And people VOTED for these guys? It takes my respect for McCain (generally fairly high) down a notch or two).

Is it the Hooters aspect that bothers you? Their chicken wings can be addictive.
