Could someone (anyone) be kind enough to perhaps offer some suggestions about how to either contact publishers and/or websites for the purposes of selling stories for profit?

I would appreciate any legitimate guidance.

I don't "hang out" on this forum, but I do have over 120 stories on Lit.

Thanks for any assistance that can be provided.

Be nice, guys and girls!

As for contacting actual publishers I've never tried, but I'm sure someone will be along that has.

I am self published on quite a few sites including amazon.

here is a link to smashwords who I think is the best site to start with if you are interested in self publishing your work.

All you need to do is buy a photo from a stock photo site and add some text for a cover and download the smashwords style guide (free) and it will tell you what to do from there. Its pretty easy.

If you're looking for more info, feel free to PM me, I don't like to go on and on here about where I am and what I do to get there.

Go to the distributor sites that carry books like you want to publish (such as Amazon.com/Kindle, Barnes & Noble Nook Books, Allromanceebooks.com) and check the listings. Publishers will be identified. Most of them (unless it's a self-publisher hiding behind a publishing house name) will have Web sites giving submissions guidance.

The above post made me think of something.

If you go to a publishers site, check carefully before signing up. Some of them want you to be exclusive with them and that's not really the way to go. You want to be able to list your books on as many sites as you can.

The publisher should put your book on the distribution sites--and set up all of the necessary platforms needed. You shouldn't have to do this youself when you go with a publisher. It's part of the reason to go with a publisher and them in on part of the profits. They'll be doing the drunge work so you can spend your time writing other books.

I'm just starting to write erotica and will be self-publishing my books on Kindle and Smashwords and a few other places. I agree with lovecraft68, I think it's the best way to go.
