I've been writing and selling on Amazon.com since 2015. And I did awesome at first compared to my later years. I'm trying to reach out to customers, but I suppose I have no idea what I'm doing. Andy suggestions to make sales happen more frequently? My ears are open.

Well, there are rules 6 and 7 here, so .....

Somebody may be along to make some general suggestions though, but the Lit forum isn't really about generating sales on other sites.

Points well taken but selling books is a legitimate subject for an author's forum, so perhaps approaching it generically rather than specific to Amazon.

I haven't gotten to the point of selling yet, but lots of authors here have. Perhaps they have some advice.

Bezos hides independent erotica authors from normal searches.

Yes, but astonishingly a couple of months back, I started to receive an email update every few days and gasp, it included erotic titles.

2015 was a period of "more on demand than on offer." Since then, there has been a glut of "on offer" and folks have realized they've filled their devices with more than they'll ever be able to read. Best you can do is keep them coming so there's always something new of yours in the market (this will lead them to your back list), have striking covers, great blurbs, good writing . . .

Look for underserved niches and service them. These niches currently appear to be out on the edges of extreme.

Exploit all of the platforms that will take your books.

I've seen an increase in sales after doing the following:

Check the bestseller lists. Those will give you an idea about what sells and what prize you should choose. Don't prize your books too high. It's better to sell more of them. Right now, reverse harem and Mpreg seems to sell a lot more than other genres.

Publish on all available platforms, but don't bother with paperbacks/hardcover.

Publish short stories on free sites to create buzz.

Build a homepage where you can add excerpts of what you're currently working on.

And of course, the covers are the most important selling point. Check the competition and make something similar.

That said, selecting the right category and keywords is vital for the reader to find your book.

Still, the best advice is probably to experiment with (short stories in different) genres, covers, etc and see what works or not. Suddenly, you will get lucky with one of them.

I know that the site we won't talk about offers ads. Did anyone use them to any positive effect?
