Self-trampling self-referential thread

A post-modern thread. I like it.

Cucumbers v. zucchini: don't you feel like they should look more different so you don't get confused at the grocery store? I've long thought this.

Ive been caught out by that one when making a salad. It made the salad "interesting".

My limited understanding is that one requires slightly more lube...that's what I heard from a female acquaintance, anyways. I wouldn't know. Seriously.

So what you're telling me is the squirt bottles in the produce section AREN'T hand sanitizer like the rest of the store?

Noted.

I'm confused, the link is the link to this thread?

Self referential. Get it? It's like Monty Python's Argument Clinic. "I'd like an argument, please." "No you wouldn't."

It's also a dig at all the folks who start a thread to discuss some aspect of writing but making sure to add "for example, in MY STORY (hyperlink: Glove Cucks half of Brazil) I did a very clever job of this," just so you should all read it so you can the OP on the back (or bow to such greatness).

You thought Long English?

Which half of Brazil is getting cucked, exactly? I'm guessing the top half but I don't want to assume.

Try holding a bottle of lube while standing in the vegetable section wearing a thoughtful, contemplative expression.

Keeping your options open.
To be completely self-referential, I've got a story with a scene set in the produce aisle of a supermarket in the middle of Covid, with social distancing etc., where a zucchini gets sexualised. There's no lube nor cleanser though.

And to be non-referential, I won't link it.

Okay, the Python reference makes it make sense.

But you may just have to bow down to the fact that right here in the AH the bestest most sublime writers ever dwell. I only know that because they tell us all the time. '
One here has used the word sublime about their own work, but then again that poster is also known to talk about the size of their dick.

It is indeed quite common for AH people to use every opportunity to link or praise(indirectly) their own stories. It happens all the time, in almost every topic, but it is most obvious in the threads where someone asks for a certain story type and then everybody replies with links to their own stories, even if they aren't exactly the thing the OP asked for. God forbid anyone would link something other than their own story.
I find it hilarious and even endearing on some level. 😁

Simple human nature, and especially here because its not like you can talk about erotica to people in your life the way you could if you were a mainstream romance author. So, where else you going to yap about your own work, I guess.

I've been on a stat flex since I came back after a couple months off, but its just to bust the balls of the bestest writers evahhhh here. Even then its just numbers -and I do take them for what they are, which is no indication of talent, just how the site works. I usually don't go on about a story unless, like you said, that piece is relevant to a specific topic. To the contrary I tend to refer to myself as a pantster and a grammar nightmare, but tells a decent enough story to entertain people.

Yeah, I can relate to this easily. Nobody knows about this aspect of my life, even if it took so much time to write these stories... It feels weird for sure.

Your shameless stats flexing and trolling is not what I had in mind actually. But yeah, maybe you are right. Maybe it is just the fact that we can't brag about our stories in real life. Maybe that is why many AH authors are so keen to insert their own stories into every discussion ;)

Why wouldn't you shamelessly self promote? Why else do you post if not to spruik yourself? Are you telling me you've never done that?
