I have attempted to get a story through the "vetting" process.
I had spelling mistakes that wernt spelling mistakes, they were English expressions used in England.
Punctuation errors that were in my view "picky".
So I took 4 approved storys at random and edited them in the same "picky" fashion.

The results were as follows
story 1 24 grammatical errors; 12 spelling mistakes (pass by spell checker, but wrong word used); 14 punctuation errors
story 2 3 grammatical errors; 4 spelling mistakes (pass by spell checker, but wrong word used); 1 punctuation errors
story 3 4 grammatical errors; 1 spelling mistake (pass by spell checker, but wrong word used); 4 punctuation errors
story 4 0 grammatical errors; 2 spelling mistakes (pass by spell checker, but wrong word used); 16 punctuation errors

That doesnt look to be consistant in my view.
The English Language has its roots in England, and for the record the bible is the Complete Oxford English Dictionary, where colour is spelt colour not color.

Funny that you should mention that....I have quite a few writers using English expressions in their stories and I've never seen them rejected because of it. More often then not if they're rejected it's because of true grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuations etc...errors, not because of their English expressions.

Yeah and just for the record Literotica is an American based story site and since we're not paying for it, I'm quite happy to change my expressions, grammar and punctuation to American if that's what needs to be done for my work to be seen.

Well, Mr Clive,

My suggestion, is that you post your work here, in a thread on the editor's forum ( none of us are involved in the story vetting process ), and we can attempt to locate the cause of your rejection notice.

I am well aware that America is an uneducated nation of bumpkins who cannot write or spell as the good Lord intended, with the silent 'u', but one or two members of the unwashed mass of humanity we call the United States, perhaps have experience with writing.

The childish lashing out at the site and at people you do not know, over what you call "generic responses in rejection" notices serves no purpose.

I'm confused, Clive. As far as I know, the rejection notices don't tell you exactly what the errors were within your story. How do you know that the spelling issues were with your English words or that the punctuation errors were overly nitpicky? (There are many English authors on this site and I don't know of any that have been rejected due to idioms or spelling differences.)

Is it possible you're confusing a volunteer editor's correction suggestions with the vetting process on the site?

Every time I've had a story rejected (twice, I think so it's not a huge number or anything) there's always been a reason posted. Once, I'd quoted too many lines in a song (copyright issue) and another time it was a page break thing, I used a string of asterisks: "****************"(ad infinitim ) and of course was rejected for that.

I thought they ALWAYS gave you a reason... don't they? why wouldn't they?

They do, but I don't know of any that state exactly which words are spelled wrong. I could be wrong about that, though, and I hope I'm corrected if I am. I was just curious how Clive knew it was the English words that were the issue, esp. since that's not an issue for others on Lit.

You're right Minsue, Lit doesn't specify which words, if any, are spelt wrong. Just like they don't say which sentence is innapropriate etc...

As for Clive, well lets just say that I think he got up on the wrong side of the bed yesterday and got an attack of paranoia , he should be fine now with all the people telling him that he was in the wrong and that his English usage had nothing to do with his stories being rejected.
