With almost 800 editors here, and no search criteria to determine whether an editor would enjoy working with my subject matter; how does a story writer find an interested editor without manually clicking on each editor profile to read his or her interests?

My femdom-cuckoldry genre doesn't really fit squarely into any of the story category boxes anyway, even if I did open up the editor profiles to read their preferred categories.

Any tips, or any volunteers out there? ... :)

You've already done the best thing you could do. Post it here.
Sifting through editor profiles is apparently useless a there are many profiles for people that are no longer around.
The femdom thing isn't my area of expertise, but if it's an expert you're looking for, I'm sure someone more familiar with it will be along shortly to help you out.

If they aren't too busy that is. Seems to be alot of that going around lately.

I agree with D-DD. The lack of easily-searchable data about editor's preferences/expertise in sub-genres make it almost impossible for you to locate the right editor, and the sheer number of inactive or semi-active editors raises the strong possibility that the editor you choose may never receive your request.

Posting here is by far the best bet.

How many words in each of your stories or chapters? That will often determine whether an editor has the time to take on the project.

I ran into the same problem when I went looking for an editor. The editor that I found using the editor search was not really in to my genre.

I found my editor by sending feedback to really good authors who write stories like I wrote. It seemed reasonably that if they wrote highly literate pieces, they either had really good editors and/or they knew something about language. I asked them who they recommended and one of them agreed to look at my story.

Goodness gracious me! Someone who solves a problem in a thoroughly logical and practical way instead of just screaming and shouting and throwing toys out of the cot.

Freshface, I salute you.

But you'd have a cow if you knew who she asked for help from. :D

You would think that Literotica would have improved the editor search function by now.

But I'm happy to know that I chose the right path by posting here... :)

Well, this story installment is rather long, at 40 pages on MS Word, using a block format (no indentations), size 12 font, and default page margins.

While the story stands alone well-enough, I left the ending of the it "open" so that I may add more chapters at a later date.

That sounds like a smart approach! However, it may be too late.

I erroneously assumed that I would receive an e-mail notification for each response I received here. And in so doing, I assumed that I had only one response. So I submitted my story to Literotica this past weekend, as is.

However, as of this writing, the story hasn't been posted yet.

It's Not Too Late If Your Story Is Still Pending

If you go to Stories and View, if the story is still pending and you select the link, you're right back to the submission page and at the bottom can elect to delete. Or you can append the category or any other part of the submission.

Just letting you know.

Thanks for the tip. I'll go have a look.

The story still has not been posted, so I made the changes.

Since I use italics, I sent the submission in as an upload instead of copy/paste. I understand that it needs to be manually processed by Literotica.

Since the story is a bit lengthy, they're probably in no hurry to bring it to the top of their to-do list!

If you want to insert italics, you can 'turn them on' so to speak with and off with . I don't believe it's case sensitive, so and would work as well.

Sorry you went to extra work, but when you don't ask the right question...

If it's 40 pages with a character size of Word point 196, I might consider... just as long as the word count is near or under 5k.

Somehow I don't think this is the case.

Best of luck with your opus.

12,548 words, to be exact.

Hmmm. Not sure how you get 40 pages out of that. That would be no more than seven standard manuscript pages and no more than four Lit. pages. Not nearly as scary as it sounded.
