Seeking writers for "An American Coup"

I only want to toss the idea out -- I'm working and only have a moment -- but the premise is that the Federal Government and even some State Governments have become so corrupt and ineffective that the threat of revolution leads to a military coup by a benevolent group of Generals, Admirals, and other "leaders".

This is not to be a partisan role play!! Leave your donkeys and elephants at home.

But if you think you have some good ideas for the story and/or wish to create a character with a plot line, post it here. I will refine the concept over the next few days, and we'll start sometime before Christmas.

(Keep in mind that your snide comments and derogatory remarks only acts as a bump for me, so ... go for it.

(Caught a break in the action! More posting, woohoo!)

Possible scenarios I think could be fun to write (but certainly not the only ones):

• Pre-Coup leaders who weren't scooped up trying to form a working government in secret, possibly even including the President or Vice President.
• Fighting between pro- and anti-coup forces within the US military ... some of whom might even have access to nuclear, biological, or chemical weapons.
• Extremists -- foreign and domestic -- taking advantage of the situation in any of a number of ways.
• Foreign countries taking advantage of the "distraction" in America to do things they couldn't before.
• A family, small town, and/or large city on different sides of the battle, just as Americans within a single family were torn apart by the Civil War.
• States taking the opportunity to secede, only to find out that their own counties want to secede from the state.
• A manhunt of "renegade" pre-coup leaders by coup supporters, followed by the question of what to do with the captives once they are found.
• And so much more.

Maybe the leaders of a malitia group are in talks with the leaders of a small town that has a manufacturing facility that could be utilized to build weapons. The town, caught in the ever increasing decay of state and federal governments, battles itself over whether to stay the course and wait for normalcy to return, or do they go all in and seal their fate.

I'm going to start working on the Role Play again in the next couple of days. We had a freeze here that did some severe damage, so I am not starting any new RPs until I get the damaged fixed. But I seriously want to work on this one.

I hear you, I have had mixed luck with multiplayer RP's but I like them. It's hard to find a story that has the right mixture of gun porn, violence and sex, to keep it fun. I would definitely be into this one though if you get it going.

Pretty much. My hope is that writers will contemplate a realistic result of such a coup, whether it be national in scope or very local; then create a character and a situation that they want to write about.

I will create an OOC where writers can post their ideas and search out collaborating writers. When necessary, I will fill the collaborating roles, but I don't want to end up doing half of the writing, of course. That's just too much for one person to handle, particularly when I already have a group thread in which I am writing all the male roles to 5 female co-writers. (I love that one, though. That's not a complaint! )

Human of course. You play any gender. And while the story is about a coup in the United States, it will affect most of the world, so there is no reason why writers can't write characters of other nationalities, out in the world or here in the US.

I never saw "Crash". In fact, never heard of it, sorry. But I will look at IMDB and see.

In our case, our collaborations may or may not overlap, but it will be necessary for all writers to follow the posts for all collaborations because the details may apply to all.
