Hi all - despite many attempts to reach out to volunteer editors, I have received no bites. I’m looking for fresh eyes and an editorial view on a story I am writing.

In full disclosure, I am a first-time story writer. I am planning for multiple parts that revolves around some central themes of incest, blackmail, and bondage. I have carefully drafted a first chapter (I read somewhere that if it’s shorter than 10k words to not make it chapter-based so it’s quite long). It is largely told from a second person perspective, with third person interspersed via flashbacks (and similar mechanisms).

Im currently using Google docs. I’ve had a few friends read the draft, and I have incorporated some constructive feedback. Overall, I’m hoping for a new objective take on my draft.

Please let me know. We can exchange emails?

Thanks!!

This question is best posed here:

Also, putting e-mail addresses in posts violates the board rules. If you don't delete it, a moderator will be along soon to do so.

On use of the second person perspective, make sure you really understand what it is and how it's used. 85 percent of those trying to use it are actually using a very pained (painful to the reader) and incorrect/awkward first-person perspective. And be prepared for readers not to like it and to click out, especially if you're mixing perspectives.

The best luck I've had finding an editor was contacting people who posted to this thread in that forum. The last few times I tried using the volunteer editor feature, I didn't get any response from the people I contacted.

Write what you enjoy writing, but you should know that that combination is likely to get you a poor rating. I/T readers want their incest consensual.

Hi Ellie. I will first say I have not had experience of editing but have been lucky enough to work with a great editor who is. I have a published series in Lit which has around 24 chapters to date but most are just one Lit page long.

My scores have been decent although I have not had hundreds of readers necessarily. I currently have 11 followers but there are other writers in Lit who probably have followers by the hundreds or more.

I have 3 of the coveted H ranks for three of my chapters. I have only published from June but been a writer for years (personal only, never published).

I don’t know but as a recent publisher to Lit but not really with an editor background as such but as mentioned I have been lucky to work with a great editor of late and she has been a great help and we quickly became good friends.

I am sure you know about the editor List in Lit. Maybe you have tried that. If you are still stuck I would be happy to give it a shot but arguably one of the Lit editors from the list may be better as they will have the experience you are looking for.

My name is Frank by the way.

Brutal One

Wow - thanks so much. Wasn’t aware of the email rule (have since edited). The second person perspective is well heard. I am updating it now
