If this is Literotica, where have all the intellectuals gone? Why do so few people understand that good sex begins between your ears?

But I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who's turned on by words. Intelligence is my number one requirement for a Dominant. Why would I follow someone who isn't as smart as I am?

It might be helpful if you would supply your definition of intellectual or literacy. Could you give some examples of what your have observed in both camps?

Prepare to abandon all hope of either, all ye who enter Literotica's gates...

Millions of little wiggle-tails, all trying to be the first to that tiny egg... Good luck.

IQ meter

I understand that there are multiple ways to measure intelligence, and I'm not passing out IQ tests. That said, submission is a leap of faith. If I'm surrendering control, I need to be reasonably confident that the Dominant is smart enough to take care of me. If I don't believe that person is smarter than I am, I can't let go of that control.

I understand the exasperation.

Read an average story in the Lit. archives and, for sure, that's the impression conveyed with pile driver force. There are a very few examples of writing which combine good use of English and that other major pre-requisite: imagination/originality. We are talking in the one or two percents.

It's mostly dispiriting, tongue-hanging-out descriptions of fucking.

Still... hope springs eternal, I suppose.

Nothing wrong there at all. A lady's mind is her greatest treasure. If you don't get to know it and engage with it, what are you even doing...?

I like your philosophy, Belle

Smart lady.. I believe in spending the human capital to understand the grey matter and "trigger points" before any D or s should agree to their negotiated partnership.

As a practical matter a flogger makes an impractical bookmark. It will almost always break the spine of any good book. Then of course the attention it brings when relatives or others come to visit.

Excellent Q. SoBelle,
I second your inquiry while coloring it with my own perspective.
The search for rare archetypal energy in the midst of this unfinished and shaky paradigm has become a real issue for some.
It makes sense that those of us looking for even a hint of supportive intuit from our own tribe-type would feel a bit frustrated. Then again, it is exactly that instinctive depth with which a quiet balance can be maintained.
The struggle, it seems, is in creatively maintaining the mean without feeling a need to repeat this process too often.
OMG I shouldn’t have eaten that second chocolate bar ;)

You are right on the money. The brain is the ultimate sex organ. I gave up my search for a domme years ago in frustration. Language, imagination, refined thinking, tone of voice, even ASMR...It's all critical to creating the specific erotic space in which release, transference of power, and transformation can take place. Now good luck finding someone capable of all that. :D

Hi Sobelle. In my experience, and not to say it is everyone 'a experience, the lack of perceived intelligence can rather be a lack of understanding and empathy for their partner. I have had great exchanges with others who used poor grammar or had trouble writing complete sentences. In those instances, the content was extremely hot and relevant. I have also had lukewarm conversations with people who would be considered highly intelligent (we never connected, so while the words were beautiful the content was lacking).
There is a someone out there who is willing to take the time to connect with you and who can craft lovely words and ideas for you, but you will have to shift through a bunch of trash to get to that treasure. When you get there it can be wonderful.
Also, be aware that there are generally two types out there. Those that are writing and reaching out for their own pleasure, and those that want to induce pleasure in others.
I hope you find what you are looking for and don't become disenchanted along the way.
