This is an idea I considered and rejected for a previous series, but I think it has potential, so I'm setting it free into the wild for anyone who might want it.
MC has a particular kink/fetish. (In my story it was sex while blindfolded, but it could just as easily be a catgirl outfit or roleplaying some specific scenario.) They're put in a BDSM situation as a sub. (In my story it was repaying a favor to a friend, but it could just as easily be losing a bet, trying it out just for the experience, or a case of mistaken identity.) They're leery and seriously consider not doing it, but the catch is, the dom/me tells them that instead of a safeword, they have to abandon that fetish. (Obviously this only works if it's something they can do while they're physically restrained, or if the dom/me will honor that specific request.)
So they don't. They see the session through until the dom/me says it's over and it's really hot. Now the kink is linked to BDSM for the MC. They don't just prefer the kink, they've shown to themselves and anyone involved that they'll do anything when that kink is in play. The reverse is also true. They didn't feel like there was anything particularly submissive or humiliating about the kink before, but they do now. If they have a partner, they might have to incorporate something new into the bedroom games. If they can't, the MC might have to scratch this itch elsewhere.
Obvious variations are what to use for the original kink/fetish. IMO it's less obvious, but should still be possible, to vary what the second kink/fetish would be.
