I've got a story I hope to publish soon in Lit that's told as a bunch of vignettes, and I want to be sure that when it goes up in Lit format it will be obvious that these are separate sections. In short, I need to know what to put between the vignettes to insure separation.

The story's is MSWord format now and I'm currently just using a bunch of line returns to separate the sections. I understand that in Lit these characetrs will be eliminated, which is not good. I seem to remember some people using triple asterisks and running into trouble with that too. I don't mind using some sort of character-based separators like that, but I don't want the characters to turn out to be code for some other symbol or operation. I don't want to use numbers either.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've used spaced asterisks without problems - asterisk/space/asterisk etc , e.g. * * * * *

There's an example on the third page of my story A Date For the Prom, near the bottom of the page. I used seven asterisks there with line returns before and after to enhance the separation.

Doc,

If asterisks have gotten the job done for ADK, then I'd suggest going with them. However, another common separator is the old tic-tac-toe sign # which I've used at Lit. I wouldn't bet the ranch on this, but it may be the more commonly used of the two signs out in the "real" world.

ps: Hey, Doc, when are you going to work up the courage to finish kicking around my new story on the SDC? That's the one you started but it made you sick and/or sleepy and you gave up. Still, I figure a few dozen shots of brandy and a pot of coffee should set you up for the project. :)

In short, I need to know what to put between the vignettes to insure separation.

Having recently finished wearing my editor hat privately for an author who used a separation technique of a single '#' (hash), I have to say that I found it the most easy sign to relate to as I was reading.

It was not 'in my face', it was not overdone as it was a single mark with a space above and below. It was clear and precise and I highly recommend its use. :)

I am not sure if stories on Literotica have the '#' mark. I intend using it myself in the near future.
