Secret Santa Interest Thread

Yes, Yes I know it's only just October, but it's time we started to get this years' Secret Santa under way, or at least find out who's showing interest. I wanted to start it a little earlier this year to give people a little more time to come up with money/etc for what they want to do since the economy sucks so badly.

I've volunteered to take it over this year so EL can participate in the traditional way (and it's the only way I can be a part of it this year.)


So what do I want in this thread?

One, I want to find out who's interested in joining in the Secret Santa fun this year. Before you say you want to participate, please seriously think about whether you have time to buy/make/assemble your gift before the last week or so of November when things will need to be posted by. I really, really don't want anyone to not have received a gift by the decided opening day. Also, decide whether you can send internationally.


Second, we need to sort out some details. When should the cut off date be for sending gifts (taking into account international mail takes longer) and when should we have present opening day? What should the price limit be? And also, what kind of questions do folks need to answer to help out the gift buyer? I know we have helpful questions in previous years' threads, so you might look back at those and then see if any need to be added.



So, who's up for Secret Santa AH style?

For those who don't have a clue what I'm talking about, Secret Santa will involve you sending your name and address to me plus the answers to whichever relevant questions we decide need to be asked. Then I'll assign a number to each participant and I'll get you to pick a number. What number you pick determines which Secret Santa you'll get. Then you'll have to buy/make a gift for said person and mail it by the deadline, then wait for your own parcel and the opening day -early Christmas for all who join in -to open up your gift.

Have I explained everything and if so, who's game?

VM -the decision is yours of course, but the AH SS is a fantastic, warm and loving thing that makes a hell of alot of AH'ers happy every year, male and female. It muchly rocks.



We opened on the 18th last year and I do beleive the majority of folks had their items (I was so for those who hadn't.

Questions, When i have time I can go and find my official doc from last year with them all on. but here's what I remember.

Allergies/food preferences like halal, kosher etc.

Favourite colour/ colour you hate.

Top size.

Hobbies and things you like.

Things you don't like.

Well, speaking as someone who didn't get her gift in time, it didn't really matter. It was so much fun to hear about everybody else's reactions, and what they were gifted. Plus, when I did get my gift, it was totally worth it!

If I remember, also, the details of our likes and dislikes were pm-ed to the organiser/co-ordinator, so that she/he could pass them on to the person who draws that name.
