Looking for a story I can't find again. Never got past the third page before my computer crashed but it was really interesting. Can't remember the authors name bit I 'think' it might be a well known one.

I'll talk about what I remember. The story is told from the man's POV. His wife is a flirt and has cheated on him. He feels there is a monster inside of him and he's doing his best not to let it out. Hes decided he's going to drove to Los Angeles. He's at a well known Truck stop and he's a somewhat regular there. Only this time he stumbles onto a situation. A girl is on the run. Attractive but not strikingly beautiful. She has fading bruises but I can't recall what she was said to be wearing.
She's not too bright and tends to get herself into trouble. In the story it's noted her demeanor screams 'victim'. And predators temd to pounce on that. She's asks the protagonist for a ride to a fairly nearby town but initially he refuses. She asks another Trucker who says yes. As she goes to freshen up in the bathroom the Protagonist hears the trucker call a friend to meet him at a nearby rest area or truck stop so they can have some fun with the girl. The Protagonist realizes they're going to rape her and, against his better judgment and internal conflict, he intervenes in the situation. He ends up taking the girl with him. Last scene I got to was they were at a McDonald's where her bag was stolen by a thief but recovered by the protagonist.
Story didn't look to be big on tje erotica but more of an enjoyable story. It seemed long, maybe 11 pages. Does someone know the story and can post a link?
