Searching for a holiday story

I'm looking for a particular story I read at least a year or two ago. I've tried every permutation using the Search feature that I could think of, but haven't come up with any success.

I believe it's a story set around New Year's Eve/Day, with a wife who cheats with one of her son's best friends. The son finds out, and is hurt that his mother's cheating. Later, the mother and son get together as well.

I've done searches with every combination I can think of - I vaguely remember there being something with either the son's girlfriend, or the friend's girlfriend. Maybe a threeway?
