Hi all.

I checked through the manual and didn't see this as a faq, so here goes:

I tried to Search myself on this site and the results only came back with one hit. I have posted about 20 times and I was thinking they would come up--or at least, say, the last 10 or something.

I posted in a thread and can't for the life of me remember which one it was, but wanted to see if someone had commented back.

The Advanced Search option didn't seem like it was asking for info that would help me, but I am a technotard, so...... :)

Thanks for help in advance!

This link should do it. http://forum.literotica.com/search.php?do=finduser&u=1072290 I clicked on your user name then dropped down to 'find all posts by 'you'.

Hopefully someone else will come along and answer the bigger question; how to find certain content using google advanced search or something else

From one technotard to another: try this.

Happy hunting!

bailadora: i'm glad you posted a link to that, very useful!

ihavehope: you could also look at your own user profile and hit the link for "all posts by ihavehope". that too would work. :>

Click on your name in the first post of this thread, and select "Find more posts by..." to see the posts you've made.

Also go to your User CP (upper left of your screen) and see if you have anything listed on that page or under the Subscribed Threads (in the menu on the left).

While you're in your User CP, click Edit Options on the left, then go down to Default Thread Subscription Mode under Messaging & Notification. You can select to be notified of new posts to the threads you post to via email, receive a digest of new posts to your subscribed threads, just subscribe so threads show up in your CP, or whatever else works for you.

For example, I have "Instant Email Notification" selected as my default option, so I get emails notifying me of new posts to threads I've posted on. I like this because I can catch up from my email inbox and still unsubscribe or change my subscription options at any time if I'm getting too many emails for any given thread or am no longer interested in it or whatever.

You can change your subscription options thread by thread or post by post, too. If you want to subscribe to a certain thread, click on that thread then click on the Thread Tools menu near the top of the page and select "Subscribe...". If you want to subscribe and be notified when there are new replies to a thread you've posted to, you simply select the option you want from the Notification Type drop-down box under Thread Subscription (which is under Additional Options) near the bottom of the page before you post your reply to the thread. Again, you can change these at any time if you change your mind on subscribing or wanting to be notified of new posts.

Here is the blurb on subscription & notification from the vBulletin FAQ.

I don't feel like I explained this very well, but hopefully you can use the info to work it out for yourself. If I were you, I'd start with changing my default subscription option in my User CP first, then take some time to explore the board logistics and figure out which option would likely best serve me in the future for most threads. Until you get a better handle on how things work, you might want to do the instant email or subscribe to all threads option as your default, and later on, you can fine tune it by thread to best suit your needs.

I've found I have a much easier time with sites like this when I set aside some time to look around and get a sense of what's available and where things are at the start, rather than try to wait to problem-solve when a need arises. It can really help to take a section of the page or site at a time and just click on main links to see where they go, look through the User CP, site FAQ, forum stickies, etc.

I hope that helps some! :)

D'oh! I totally misunderstood the question. That's what I get for trying to answer a tech question. *turns all red*

And thanks to the rest of you for the advice. Very helpful as always. I thought I had gone through all the drop lists I could find, but I guess not...!

So, off to explore.

Your post was very useful to me bailadora.

Not to highjack as it is still 'search better on Lit"
Does anyone have a search method for http//forum.literotica.com? Google advance search doesn't seem to work so I assume that anything below the main pages are 'no index' or even purposely not spidered by engines on that end.

Hmm <meta name="keywords" content="New Superheroine, vbulletin,forum,bbs,discussion,literotica,erotica,authors" />
<meta name="description" content="New Superheroine Literotica Personals" /> the newest post in personals is meta tagged for search:confused::confused:

Anyone know a way to search the forums?

Bailadora, right there with ya babe! We'll get it right sooner or later... :)

LOL - if we are anything alike, it's gonna be later......waaayyy later. :D

bailadora's post says that to search the forums

For searching forum messages, include the string "Literotica Discussion Board" instead of "index : category name":
site:literotica.com "Literotica Discussion Board"

To search the entire site with google, you use:
site:literotica.com

To search the forums only, you use:
site:forum.literotica.com
