Sean Connery on smacking up your woman!

confirmation of insufferable dickitude.

I hope he goes to the same corner of the planet that Mel Gibson and Michael Richards now inhabit, but he won't. Slapping your bitch is still dandy in '06.

i like the last part best...

they've been married for thirty-some-odd years and there hasnt been a single complaint.

Hm, keep reading.

Apparently a couple of complaints.

Bet if he said the same thing on a bdsm board it would be taken totally differently.

I still like the 007 movies!

Tom Cruise on the other hand, I have boycotted all of his movies since he broke up with Nicole Kidman.

Then there was the scientology thing.

All hail Lord Xenu!

Probably, normally if it were within the context of "I think it's appropriate to smack a woman who likes it or one who's coming at you with a carjack" I'm down with the outlook. If it's just your MO because you're a fucking pussy without the ability to deal with people, that's another thing. Seriously. If you're so easily played to the smacking point by someone having to have the last word that's just weak.

I do too. Unlike Connery I seem to be able to separate him from James Bond.

This is not BDSM, this is physical abuse, at least in my part of the world-- you can go to prison for that.

Unless you have a lot of money. Then you get yourself a Johnny Cochran if it gets a little out of hand.

Wait a sec, he specifically said that it would be after she got the last word and you've let it go but the bitch just has to keep running her yap on and on about it.

I've never popped off a swift one to the jaw over that situation but I have left and spent the night somewhere else.

Well, if I were to have killed two people I would wait until after the trial and then write a book about it to secure my childrens financial legacy. Assuming that they can't survive without a great big daddy handout.

It is violent abuse and never acceptable. It saddens me to see that vid.

Leaving instead of hitting is one way to handle it, good for you.

So have I. Women don't have a monopoly on making a situation intolerable.

It's called self control. Adults have it. There's no excuse for not having enough of it to go beating on one another. There's even less of an excuse for being lauded and championed as a masculine idol because you don't have any - enough not to do it OR enough not to know that extolling the virtues of doing it on Barbara WaWa is like, dumb.

I used to be a big fan of Connery many many many years ago, then I heard him speak about abusing women and how he sees it as OK, similar to this interview only much stronger and passionate and defensive of his right to beat women if he feels in the mood...my admiration of him as a person went down the drain at that stage. He is incredible to look at, has a wonderful accent, is hugely talented, but as a man he is a loser and weak bully in my books. What a pity he hasn't been able to channel his ways into D/s, or if he has and keeps it secret, been able to discuss it in that light instead of admitting to and advocating violence against women.

Now ask yourself, if you were living with someone powerful who felt it was his right to beat you if you did anything to displease him in any way, and without your consent or enjoyment, would you be telling the world about it and chancing being on the receiving end of that fist once again? That is why abused women tend to surprise a lot of people when they tell the truth about what has been happening behind closed doors and what they were too afraid to say or do anything about before then.

The whole idea of "she made me do it" is so -- lame.
I certainly don't underestimate the force of verbal violence and covert violence as executed by women ( I guess that's how the "bitching" could be viewed) -- but as you said, Betticus, when someone attacs us, we always have the choice to go away-- when we answer violence with more violence, that's a choice we make, not something that is forced on us (not counting the very narrow area of real self-defense of course).

There is also this tone of "I have the right to shut her up, women are like that, they sometimes need a firm hand or they will be out of control, like with a child or an animal/if a woman wants the last word, and I genorously *allow* her to have it (not that she actually has it, I just give her the impression, like with a stubborn child), and she *still* isn't satisfied, well, then she just deserves to be slapped--"
Makes me wonder if the woman doesn't sense that the guy just leaves her the last word to shut her up, not because he actually takes her arguments seriously-- and that's why she goes on and on--

But that said-- women are human, and can be a pain too

Slapping a bitch!

Funny. All of the bitches I know and love to slap are men!

I just don't watch them on the principle that he is a total loon with almost completely no talent.

Well, face smacking IS a valid BDSM fetish.... :D

(I'd be happy just being able to listen to that man anytime I wanted, in person *melts* )

Then grow a pair and do some outreach if you're just freaky in bed.

If I remember correctly they had to get Sean Connery all kinds of talent coaches for his bond movies.

I could not say it better! Probably one of the reasons I never discipline in anger. Not my kids, grandson or sub or slaves.

It's all pretty much been said. Just one comment: ever since I read about this interview, I haven't been able to watch his films without feeling a little nauseous - unfortunate because I greatly enjoy his film presence.

as a survivor of physical abuse, my opinion is THIS is abuse. slapping your woman simply because she continues 'running her yap on and on' about anything, is NOT right. there is a difference between doing this because she likes it and hitting her simply because you're sick of her 'talking'

Did you ever consider he is lying? If the video show him smacking someone I would not know, I did not watch any of it.

Not sure why he would want to lie about punching and hitting women if he doesn't do it. I first heard him interviewed on it about 15-20 years back and he was even more graphic and vocal then about it being his right to do so and a woman's place to shut up and take it. He was also at one time married to Aussie actress Diane Cilento who if I remember right was quoted as saying 'he expected a wife from the 19th cnetury, not the 20th', and that at the time of the end of their marriage there was also talk of his violence toward his wife.
