Sea Turtle eggs...

Surely, turtle life begins when they hatch, not when the egg is fertilized.

Because they're an endangered species, unlike humans, though I feel your point is more to do with your second sentence than your first.

Because mommy sea turtle sure as hell didn't consent.

Or ok, mommy-to-be.

If you're a female sea-turtle, I'm sure it's not a felony to mutliate your own eggs.

I just realised Miles has a Thomas Paine quote in his sig. I'm guessing Miles thinks Thomas Paine invented aspirin.

You see the signs for this law all over Florida. Cocoa Beach has them every few feet it seems like.

"To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead."
- Thomas Paine

Puts that in his sig, and starts a thread which is based on the notion that somehow either turtles are human beings or human beings are endangered.

Perfect.

Amazing, innit.

Fort Lauderdale beach, as well.

If not for the sea turtles there would be a whole lotta non-roped off areas available during times like the major Air & Sea Show (which we got back this year!). Huge chunks of the beach dedicated to their nursing areas and ohhh, they take those areas seriously. I've seen some litter and then get bitched out to the high heavens.

Florida 's their sea turtles

Being endangered is a red herring.

Why is it equally illegal to kill both the turtle fetus and the adult turtle?

And why does the same rule not apply to humans?

Here's a couple hints: 1) Chickens aren't endangered. 2) People aren't turtles.

Because it is the fucking law. Don't like the law? Change it. Why is it that ignorant people would rather bitch than actually do something to change something they disagree with? Fucking lazy.

Floridians/PETA get crazy about endangered species.

Rosie O'Donnell just went through hell trying to explain her killing of hammerhead shark(s) on a boat down around here where she lives.

The shark killing does get out of hand. It's pointless. Walk down any pier and there's ten thousand boat captains offering to take you out to kill sharks. And not one of them gives a speech about the Indianapolis.

People paying top dollar to safely swim with sharks just to boast about it all (really all that it is) and then in other spectrums people killing them and getting bashed for the same reason of bravado. They're sharks. You can even dance with them but it doesn't take away that you devour lobster and a shitload of other seaLIFE at least 3 x's a week.

Catfood, forget it about it. Millions of meaningless fish fill their bellies but.., I just wonder who made such and such top ranks in the seaWORLD to begin with.

Food and sport. Two totally different things.
I don't even have anything against sport fishing but when it becomes wholesale slaughter then I think maybe we need to step back and reassess.

Food and sport, yeah. Often hard to differentiate the two.

Plus I've never understood the gigantic aquariums with restaurants featuring fresh seafood. Here, have a seat, your waiter will be right with you to tell you which fish is on special. Wut?

Who can eat a fish at a time like this?
