scrubbing the boys' mouths

great story, still unfolding, outside the maintstream media entirely

bush's 'mission accomplished' speech link disappears
cheney's 'they will welcome us as liberators' speech link disappears.

fascinating. (orwellian, etc.)

Open mouth, insert foot . . .

It's funny what 'the boys' say when their strings aren't being pulled properly. The arrogance of Cheney and the simple-mindedness of Bush come out far too often, yet the media spinners of the WH Damage Control brigade always manage to wash the crap off the wall.

Orwellian indeed. The cherry picking has become cherry tree chopping. Washington is rolling in his grave.

"I never said that" has long been a catch phrase of this administration. Not surprised in the least.

In-fucking-credible.

Wonder what else they plan to rewrite before they leave?

Well, considering Sandy Burger tried to sneak out documents in his pants (and stuffed something in his socks), what else would you expect from this administration (probably the most paranoid and secretive since Nixon). It's a stupid ploy and will just blow up in their faces (like we haven't seen the video on a dozen networks already).

But many people are not-so-smart.

And many shrub supporters forgive anything - and conveniently forget.

Maybe, but there will always be people keeping their feet to the fire. Welcome to the internet age. ;)

Maybe so, but not nearly enough people, and the fire's not nearly as hot as it needs to be.

Just think how far we've come in the last 10 years. Even though you and I don't agree about a lot, I know your opinions on things, which is pretty amazing considering how far apart we grew up (both in distance and in lifestyles). To me, the internet is in the midst of growing pains. Someday in the future, instead of isolating people, it could join us like never before. Hopefully, it will get used to help institute real and important change (instead of just looking for pics of big boobs :D ).

But in this case, it wouldn't be helpful.

If we rely strictly on internet archives for Shrub info, we may have difficulty finding it in the near future.

I think that's true for some things, like radio address which could be harder to find. But with Youtube out there and shows like the Daily Show and Countdown which love to show the video of the administration's insanity, there's a record of a good lot of their crap, even if it isn't their record.

Des-as far as the idea that internet may bring us together in the future, I agree. I think it's already happening to a degree. The net makes politicians more accessible, for example. Obama's net following is growing daily, and when people get involved like that, it can kinda bond people. It just takes effort, which means to me, that it's not the net that's limited but the people who use it that set the limits.
I hope that made sense. I just got up.

Perhaps the day when the internet brings people together will come, but I think that day may be far off.

Now I think it more resembles the early colonization of America. Mostly it's small groups of like minded individuals who are looking for a place where they can live by their own rules without interference or corruption by outside influences.

At least there's no natives who have to suffer in the process this time.

Now, if the White House could find a way of scrubbing YouTube and Keith Obermann, they really could write thier own history books.

History has always been rewritten to suit those in power. I see no reason to believe it will ever be any different.
