SCOTUS won't overturn ruling against business that refused gay wedding services

No businesses are, or should be, obliged to provide services. Given that there are plenty of other businesses that will happily provide a service to gay people, gay people are not being disadvantaged.

My impression of the new right-wing-majority SCOTUS is that they will avoid messing with LGBT rights, but instead focus on gutting the voting rights act in a very activist manner. This was the big lesson this week.

When you think about it, this is a way that they can appear to be "fair and independent", but at the same time tilt the scales toward right-wing dominance of politics at the state and federal levels.

Fighting voting rights is the biggy for the most selfish elements of the corporate interests (i.e. the Republican Party). Fighting LGBT rights is an optional cultural issue for them. Fighting abortion rights and promoting gun rights are less optional, because both of those issues are more important to their Deplorable voter base. Their whole key is getting just enough votes to stay in power.

So, LGBT rights are a likely candidate to become a token example of the right-wing Justices being "fair and independent". The strategy is to lose a few battles for their Deplorable base, but win the war.
