So here I am, one week away from heading from Scotland across to the american west coast in search of relaxing times and exploratory fun. But while the guide books may be good at telling me the obvious things that the area has to offer it is you lovely locals that hold the key to the truly interesting snippets of life.

So where best to ask what to do in LA, San Fran and San Diego than here. With a large contingent of Americans on the boards I am hoping for some good advice and may some out of the ordinary suggestions.

I am honestly up for trying anything and the more obscure and interesting the better. This is not a hook up post or a ulterior motive, it is genuinely to get a feeling of what is out there and what would be fine to do.

I want to hopefully strike up conversations and interesting ideas. I am a male if that makes any difference to people.

So you lovely west coast people say hello and give me ideas! I may only ever be there once and I want to try and pack as much in as humanely possible!

Thanks in advance, look forward to hearing from you all.

Enjoy the time

Well the obvious answer is to mingle with the locals that will embrace you as a visitor. It is a scary idea to open up and allow strangers to be aware of your situation, but if you find the opportunity, they can show you destinations you most likely will never find in a book or blog. There is much you can enjoy from such sources, but nothing like what locals can offer. Music, cars, and such are huge here. Enjoy your visit.
