Scotshighlander's story John was copied from another site. It's real title is My Son Ricky and I posted it a year ago. All he did was change Ricky's name to John then copied every word. HE"S A THIEF!!! I worked too hard on that story to have someone steal it and try to take credit for it. I reported it to literotica and if they won't do something about plagiarsts like him then there's something wrong with this site!

We've already told you what to do over in the Author's Hangout.

You have to PM (not email) Laurel, or use the "report this story" button at the end of the story.

Don't expect immediate results. Its a big site, and to be honest, they don't know you from Adam, and so have to investigate. If you just reported it, the problem won't automatically disappear. No one is that "special," no matter how much you'd like to think you are.

I understand you're upset, but ffs, chill.

Looks like she has a valid point. Her story was posted at asstr.org in May of 07, and Scotshighlander in Lit on 07/08/07....He has quite a few stories listed, I wonder how many more are cut and paste jobs...

Send a private message to Laurel.

Include the link to your story, and the link to Scotshighlander's version.

Patience.

She hates plagiarists and will take care of matters very quickly.

I have never known him to steal stories before, i think its wrong to accuse someone before its proven. I read that story he wrote ages ago before he published it on here.

His posting date here is after hers.

*shrug*

Seems to suggest the truth to me. There's a thread identical to this in the AH where she says he replied to her via PM (I think) after seeing this thread where he admitted he'd plagarized, and was asking that his version be removed from Lit. Perhaps you don't know him as well as you think you do.

Oh, and btw, you need to look up the meaning of "hearsay."

If ever there was a word that ought not need be looked up...

Hearsay.

Hear. Say.

Did you see it yourself?
No...I heard someone say.

Hearsay.

Oh, like, y'know, I was all, like, whatever, and she was all y'know, pshaaaw, and, like, whatever.

I know what it means, but thanks.

You'd be surprised at the nuances of hearsay....

It is submitted not to prove the truth of the event itself, but for the purpose of establishing that it was said and that the defendant accepted it as being true at the time of the impugned actions....

In cases of alleged plagarism, perhaps not so relevant.

I posted this on the AH, I feel it needs posting here for those who don't wander.

I've been looking at his stories. Interestingly, one of the comments left on A Mother's Milk Ch1 mentions that the characters names change half way through the story.

And again in Slut Wife

A reader's comments on this one:
Who the hell cares about spelling and grammar
In one part of the story she refers to her husband as Steve then later as Terry. You write that you are his best friend and she is his wife and doesn't know his name...This is commonly known as nam...

And again in The Photo

Reader's comment:
The story had a lot of promise, but really could have used editing. There were sentences that were quoted that were not dialog. In the first few paragraph's, Kerry had broken up with June, but at the end her name was Jeanne. I would also have preferred more emotional build-up and interaction between the two women before they had sex.

Mm.

Sounds like he could have purloined more than one story or series....

I checked some of his stories, just those from this year, and found ten that were stolen.

All have been reported, and I included links to where I'd found the originals.

Hopefully he will be a non-entity within the next few days.

He's still a member here, but "his" stories have been pulled.

Good. Laurel to the rescue...that was damn fast.

No burning? No march to the scaffold? No Lawrence Olivier-style dentistry?

Way-way-wait.

You mean Laurel actually responds to PM's?

Shouldn't someone inform the idiot on that other thread?

I was just letting him keep his precious illusion that she's imaginary. ;)

She only responds to the special people.

I know. :D

(actually I did get a PM from her this morning in response to the stolen story issue, but don't tell anyone. Shhhh)

I got one not long ago when I was having trouble getting a story pulled for the Coming Together anthologies.

Shhh.
