They're showing the Leah Remini docs here on the Crime Channel. Anyone watched them?

I knew fuck all about scientology apart from Tom Cruise loves it like I love cheese, but after watching this, Christ Almighty how do folk get pulled into this shit? To the extent they disassociate from thier families for "the church". Also, I never realised God didn't figure in it anywhere.

By an "e-meter" hooked up to them that clearly measures something, therefore can be assumed to measure something important; by the recruiter pointing out that at present they are not entirely happy; and by promises that if they keep at it long enough, they will become superhuman, with paranormal psychic abilities.

We actually got to tour the Mormon temple in Nauvoo, Illinois when it was rebuilt. Also toured their reconstructed village many times.
When Lincoln was using logs to build cabins the Mormons made their own bricks.
Illinois is famous for more than just great politicians.

Wouldn't be the first. What, you've never read Battlefield: Souls, by the famous Papyrus Age of SF writer Jesus H. Christ? (It wasn't very good, actually, there was a reason why He had the Gospels ghosted.)
 
I watched each and every show this season. I am obsessed. I did hear there is a second season in the works.

When I worked in credit we kept an eye on Scientology connected service establishments. They never identified themselves as such. The were usually supposed to be a bookstore or simimilar. They would act normal fpr avwhile till the AI systems figured they were legit, tben we'd start seing large charges. 2-5000 dollars. The people who charged tgere could not pay tbeir bills. The people were vague about what they bought and could not return whatever it was.

Just about the time legal would get involved the accounts would get cleared up most times. Sometimes (rarely) the people would just drop off the grid.

Some kind of scam for sure. They sign over things into some sort of slush fund.
