I will post the submitted poems in this thread - let's keep it clean for them.
Please post your comments in the "Science in Poetry - the comments" thread.

I look forward to more poems and to comments.

Hawking Dreams (#1) - Piscator

The tethers of this
all too fickle body
fall away
before the immensity
of space and time
leaving the mind
free.

Amaranthine Love (#2) - AlwaysHungry

For eons I waited
Then you caught me by surprise
I thought it was merely a kiss, but au contraire
I tasted infinity, and liked it

I crossed your event horizon,
plunged oh so deep inside you,
enticed by your gravitas.
Time slowed for us
The stars convulsed --

Another sort of conception ensues
from the fucking of poets.

So now you are my universe,
unbounded and curvaceous.
I begged you not to be perfect
I searched in vain for the flaw
in the rug the Navajos made

Heizenburg’s Principles (#3) GuiltyPleasure/the artist formerly known as Tristesse2

Some would say
I have none
given my line of work
but I beg to differ,
I’ve done it all for
those I love,
those who loved me.

Unlike my namesake
chemistry
not physics specifically
kept me breathlessly
in the money, that
and ruthlessness.

There was no uncertainty
comeuppance was coming,
the devils due was due.
Death stalked me, decided
for me, whispered seduction,
reassurance until my life
was his.

Some Say Love (#4) - Butters

some say love

is just a chemical reaction
a pheromone-driven exchange

granted
there's chemistry in flesh
hormonal secretions
a craving for balancing acts
whereby one drip-feeds the other's needs
in daily measured doses

but love is not a petri-dish
or supplemental sugared pill -
its sting alone should make that clear
its saline burn
its sharp electric jolt

when we weave shadows over light
the black and white of page and type
can see a tiny current
spark opiate wild-fire
peptides' flint to tinder-hearts
beyond the press, the mesh of meat
to blaze, to flame in fuel-rich minds
when love burns bright
endorphinised

Links of Fate (#5) - Legerdemer

Fate, or was it Brownian motion, brought us together,
two rings complete but separate,
rolling in their own spheres.

The rings were broken and rejoined,
linking us into a superheated chain,
knotted by red hot lust.

Too soon the links turned into a Möbius strip,
lust leading to love leading to pain
and back again, all one smooth surface.

Fate plays us like a hula hoop
round her waist, hips gyrating, laughing
until, exhausted, she will let the hoop fall.

I hold my breath till then.

Hormones collide
Love ensnares hearts
Chemical reactions abide ..........

Let Me Be Your Memory (#7) - Seanathon

Let me be your memory
remembering times when we
walked together hand in hand
strolling through a life unplanned

Until that day in the rain
when a vessel in your brain
broke apart and fell away
to begin an odd ballet

Where doctors dance round your bed
while neurons fail in your head
and synapses waltz aside
you forget you were my bride

At the edge of emotion
could there be any notion
where the hippocampi lie
distant between you and I

Kandel won a Nobel prize
maybe he could analyze
why a heart cannot forget
but minds become broken nets

Sleep while I wait by your side
all my tears finally cried
if one last thought comes to thee
let me be your memory

Something Like Schrödinger's Cat (#8) - greenmountaineer

Each time I am with you, my Dear,
I'm a schoolboy learning numbers again,
lacing five fingers through your hair.
I sample the perfume on your two breasts,
taste sweetness on both of your lips,
observe the shimmer in both of your eyes
reflecting the moon and infinity.
Tell me, how do I measure that?

And each time we make love, my Dear,
it's as though the cat dies but lives,
what seems to be a paradox,
("La petite mort," they say in France),

and as for love, I tell you this:
when I am in you forever exists!

The Amorous Molecule (#9) - AlwaysHungry

Intimately intertwined, we shift, we slide,
we rise, tilt, roll, and twist.
I know, my love, that our embrace
completes the helix. We're aligned
in opposite directions, just
the way I like it -- darling, yes!

With you I found my major groove;
the bonds we share perfect our pairing,
and together
we preserve our secrets.
If ever one of us should falter,
the other yet shall stand,
a sweet abiding strand,
and love may still surprise us
catalyze us
make us whole.

Metaphorics (#10) - Magnetron

Tomorrow,
dozens of degreed physicists
in black tie affairs with starched white shirts
will continue the caffeinated beverage infused pursuit of proving
dark matter
exists

further defining this
nebulous non-substance incapable of physical detection
despite it seemingly permeating the universe

using mouse click loaded super computer simulations
dry erase markered algorithms scrawled on whiteboards
various cosmic isotopulations and sub atomic scenarios

often strung together during clique trips to the water cooler

all the while
hoping to become household names
celebrated in such a noble field of expertise
with papers published in science journals
transcribed in a hieroglyphic language foreign
to all save accredited peer reviewers and
bright star pupils in university classes

Yesterday,
a high school dropout
in a weathered technicolor bathrobe
whose name you will never become aware of
drew letters from magnetized alphabetic soup

to craft a poem on his refrigerator's metallic surface
about a house without windows or doors to escape
and wander about the neighborhood landscape
admiring exterior architectural differences of homes
lucidly phased into existence by moonlight

using ham sandwich handed metaphorics in vain
to explain what is out there beyond the human brain
capacity to see, touch, smell, hear,

tasting cold coffee in between incoherent mutterings to himself

knowing that this information choreographed
with choice words in the right formation
would be the tiniest of sparks necessary
in creating the biggest of bangs to date
bringing illumination to the masses

Today,
that poet
those physicists
and an untold number of universal gods
in what is apparently a godless universe
will continue to fabricate our reality

Someday,
one of these beings
in exchange for his participation
and his own literary contributions to society
will finally be rewarded with a paycheck

Theoretical (#11) - EllenMore

We were clumsy at first,
your touch too random, my kiss
too hard. And our coupling!—
inept as inbred goats. Yet
practice smoothed us into
an ever more efficient guile until
a simple glance, a wink, a sigh
could set us off like phosphorus.
One would think we'd thus be
quickly satisfied, but quite the
opposite occurred; demand
rose through the roof, the way
the efficiencies of coal-fired
machinery drove mining wild
in the Industrial Revolution.
Economists call this effect
the Jevons Paradox: progress
does not ease consumption.
Sometimes it simply whets
one's greedy appetites, like
mine for your rich vein of ore.

How to Explain Magnetism (#12) - todski28

the pull, that inexorable drag
toward this moment
even with heels dug in
scared fingers cling
to scrabbling scree
I tried to flee this thing
called feelings

and yet you have that
lodestone lodged square in your chest
that rare earth pull
that calls to the metals in my blood
at first I thought to shed it
magnesium, copper
in bursts of red lights
and bad habits

the harder I resisted
the more I tried
to shut you out
the more inexorable the pull

when we joined
when my strength of will
was overpowered by the pull
to let go of the fear
I fell into this
magnetic field that contains me
that sets me free

No matter (#13) - Black13

I saw a positron,
Somewhere between an instant and an eternity,
as I followed the current to the ground.
She zapped through, and spun me around.

We were entangled, so we never met.
Our opposite spins were a message from an old
and primordial source, decaying into a pair
of opposite messages, drifting in a long and cold
orbit. Then an old man's cat noticed us both there.

We knew how each other spun.
For an instant or an eternity, she spun me around.
She did not answer to the current,
but I had to follow it to the ground.

I saw a positron once, and now I know my spin.
I watched from the surface,
living somewhere between a Planck and a Parsec
as she met with an electron and vanished.

Piezoelectric (#14) - Tzara

odd, how all it takes is her hand
this way clutched on my body

and my bones, so like quartz
will then spark

and a new current will run
frantically to ground

while I knit
her sparkling fingers into mine

The Sound and The Fury (#15) - Trixareforkids

She came furiously
with an ocean of sound
crashing against me
demanding I take her
Pounding
wave after wave
building the pressure
that would soon
displace her pleasure
with my own
Rather than transition
I fiddled with her dials
until I received the signal
to change the channel
we struck up a new rhythm
and sang together

Stars (#16) - Piscator

Tonight you light my stars
although I know this is
physically improbable.

For stars are spheres of
plasma
held together by their
gravity
and generate their own
light
which travels
years, decades and centuries
to excite a photoreceptor
in my eye.

Yet tonight
you light my night
and I fear my universe
is no longer
expanding.

Discipline (#17) - HarryHill

Discipline

She can break the bonds if she tries
tensile strength is way below
the power of a dainty thing like her

Even if, the bond's barely physical,
a faux chaffing dildo,
stroking the g spot in her mind,
staring at the turgid cock,
inches away, repeatedly denied
yet begs again

Observation:

The craftsman follows exactly
parameters proven to give
exact reproduction as needed
from experience others have lived

Prognostication:

Oh the probabilities laid to man,
where guessing's a science, but in the end,
it's all going to hell,
metaphorically

Creation:

I want to create planets with you baby
big bang away, fill you with my cosmic seed
you are my universe
