In the future, making a copy of yourself is possible but highly regulated and only available for specific reason (deep space exploration (ship leaves without a crew, then acquires instructions and materials for making the crew once it arrives at its destination), emergency transfer of a VIPs mind to a duplicate upon death, etc.).
So when an employee manages to get his hand on a duplicator by carefully manipulating a lot of paperwork, what does he do with it?
Sure, they could sell it and make a fortune but it was hard enough to get the thing. It could easily be traced back to him and they would go to jail for a looong time. No, they want something more personal. They have enough DNA and necessary info to make a duplicate of the their boss and their boss’s family. Boss is normally untouchable but a duplicate doesn’t have that protection. Employee is tired of being the boss’s punching bag and having to deal with their beautiful but snooty family. Time they got a little payback.
So which way could the story go? Duplicates are clones that appear to be the same age as their original. With a proper brain scan you can even perfectly replicate their memories. Of course, employee didn’t have access to that, so the duplicates aren’t perfect mentally (they also lack scars or injuries the originals had)
1. Duplicates are used as servants. Employee takes their licks at work then comes home to their bosses duplicate cleaning the house, making a meal, then selecting boss and one of the family to entertain them. While duplication technology is almost impossible to get, learning programs are way easier to obtain so the employee cobbles together a brain scan and some learning programs to make some subservient personalities. Of course, just because they were made it be subservient doens’t Mean they have to remain that way.
2. Blackmail. Duplicates are practically perfect physically so it’s a simple matter to get images of them doing things that are illegal or taboo. Even if the boss reveals to the press or law that the images are of duplicates, they would go to jail for failing to properly protect the technology.
One possibility could be for the duplicate of the boss’s daughter to get sent up to a hotel room they are staying at. Boss confirms daughter is elsewhere and fucks the duplicate...while duplicate of boss goes and seduces daughter or simply drugs her so She can’t account for where she was during the time her father was fucking her duplicate.
3. Employee underestimates the duplicates. Even with only partial memories, they know who they are and quickly turn the tables, getting their originals involved and making employees life a living hell.
4. Employee gets his plan of revenge...only to realize he’s a duplicate. The entire event was a simulation to see if his original could be trusted with access to the duplicator technology. Original is informed he failed while duplicate is either scrapped or reprogrammed to help with future simulations.
