School starts a week from today!!!!

A week from tomorrow here. Only one will be going, but it's still going to be calmer around here.

Only problem- he's going to have to take the bus this year, and he's not happy with me about it.

Not here, but I would like to add a warning message for adults now that school will be back in session. "When you are driving, watch out for school children; especially if THEY are driving."

School? In the middle of summer?? I'm glad I didn't grow up wherever you all are at.

Yeah, but they get out of school here early compared to some places.....around the 10th or 15th of May.

Could we not rush this please. I have three weeks left before all you mothers start pushing your darlings my way. Could you push them out the door

S L O W L Y

please. :)

They get out early (as cloudy said). Plus, there's the obligatory week off in the fall for deer season.

I start my senior year. I can hardly conceal my excitement.

Surely you mean COLLEGE ... 'cause I just KNOW no one under 18 would be on a site like this.

I'm an 18 yr old senior =( I'm apparently just stupid. Had a bit of trouble with math. And several of my teachers in 5th grade as well.

In that case, a hearty welcome to the AH.

:)

I have 36 days to go until my two are back to school. Not that Im pushing Im not, but they get so antsy when they dont have a regular routine. With the stores carrying all the back to school stuff they get excited yet depressed because they only have a month left!

My kids go back on September 1, and I'm not looking forward to it at all. We've had the best summer and I really wish it could go on and on and on! Late nights, lazy morning mornings cook-outs, mini vacations, long walks, lots of laughing, reading out loud, afternoons in the wading pool, kite flying, two square in the drive way... It's been so excellent...

Congrats to all the mommies over their upcoming peace. :D

I don't have kids, but if I did, I'm sure I'd want them to go back to school as well, LOL. :p

My mom used to start singing a line from a song by the end of July. :D
You know the one. From the Chipmunk's Christmas cartoon?

"And mom and dad can hardly wait for school to start again."

One of my favorite commercials is that one for Staples where the dad is pushing the buggy down the aisle collecting school supplies and the music "It's the most wonderful time of the year ...." is playing.

Cloudy???????? Noooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've only just started my summer break, and am making every effort to avoid shops with "Back to School" displays.

It's not fun hearing things like that when you work with the buggers during term time. And besides - if parents are counting down the days before they can have a break from their own kids, how do you think it is for teachers?

Cloudy, you've traumatised me :( I can't go back... not yet!

LOL! I'd completely forgotten about that one!

Hehe. That's classic. :D

I sure hope it doesn't.

Huh... come think of it, I don't know when school starts. Better check that up. :D

In a county with indoor plumbing?

Don't worry -- there was a kid in my graduating class who was TWENTY when we graduated.

Same here.

Schools only finished on 22 July in UK, some later than that, last Tuesday I think was probably the latest.

I'm just getting used to the peace and quiet in the office......no phone calls from harrassed headteachers and secretaries, all the school inspectors are on holiday, there's plenty of room in the car park because half of county hall are on summer holidays with their little dears.......only problem is the place is inundated with tourists who think they own the place, and their encumbent sprogs or spawn of the devil. Going into town at lunch time is a freakin' nightmare. I try and avoid it.

Schools go back on 5th September, but the kids not until the next day......staff development day. I'm having the last week off as holiday to boost my morale and gird my loins in preparation for the usual onslaught of problems that come with a new term, new year and new intake.

Worry ye not, Scheh and BT, plenty of time to chill and humanise yet.

:)
