School Holdays...

Can someone please give me some idea when the closest extended school holidays are to Early to Late October and maybe Early November? Is there even a break around that time? It'd be warm then too... is it likely that students would gravitate to beaches for drunken parties and shit?

I just need a rough idea of the times that sort of thing would happen in approximately that time frame. Thanks heaps.

In which part of the world? In the U.S. it is not warm here where I live at that time of the year. And there are no major school holidays. "Sring break" here is March-April. That's when the college kids head to the beaches.

In the U.S., the only "holiday" in that time frame is Halloween and school is not closed for that day. As a matter of fact, school is in full swing at that time of year. There are a bunch of 3 day weekends in the fall, but no major breaks until the week of Thanksgiving (a 4 day holiday usually) and then a real biggie at X-mas time.

Are you looking to be with people at holiday time or are you trying to avoid them? Just curious

Bugger! I always get this stuff mixed up. See, in Australia, that's mid spring, so it's heating up. I know it's the opposite there, but I just got all screwed up.

See the thing is, I'm writing this story (non-sexual) where the guys head to the beach, and I had to change a few things. Initially, it took place over 2 weeks, straight after school, so the characters wee hanging out with a bunch of their fellow pissed graduating students. Now though, it takes place over like 4 months, and this even takes place about 2 weeks before November (But could be like 4 or 5 weeks, but that's cutting it close).

I just need to modify this scene enough that I can leave it in in some form, because it's a gem. So I need to know if there'd be anything big around that time, like a student concert, or a big event like Spring Break. The temperature is not important, but it has to be in California, as close to LA or San Diego as possible. Any ideas?

Well, Labor Day weekend (first weekend in September) is usually hotter than hell in Southern California. It generally stays pretty toasty until mid-October, though the evenings get cool.

There are Admissions Day in September or Columbus Day in October, but they aren't week or two-week holidays.

The Thanksgiving Holiday is a four-day weekend for a lot of people.

There is usually a two-week holiday in December for students, or winter break at some point for college students. It seldom, if ever, falls in November.

There are fools, er, people who are at the beach every chance they can get, and some of them hit the water even in winter (I can't think why!).

Here's a thought: Many universities/colleges offer late acceptance where the student does not begin the school year until after the X-mas break. They return around Jan. 20th or so.

Maybe they can just take the semester off?? Hey, I'd do that to hang with a bunch of hotties in California!! But you'd have to throw in little (sexual) stuff....just a tiny bit...pleeeeease???
