Mum was an herbalist and an aromatherapist. She kept a grimoire of sorts of her experiments. From her notes she had this:
One handful of dried marjoram leaves
ten drops eucalyptus oil
ten drops bergamot oil
ten drops lavender oil
two drops oil of cinnamon (cassia bark)
eucalyptus scented soap

Combine Marjoram leaves and eucalyptus in a container and mix together. Crush well, and fill a cheesecloth bag full of the mixture and tie off. Run a hot bath and toss in the bag. Squeeze bag periodically to infuse. Water will turn yellow. When bath is 3/4 full run cool water and add oils of bergamot, lavender, and cinnamon. Stir to combine. Soak for 15 minutes then use soap to clean and rinse.

It will clear your sinuses :)

What are your scentual pleasures? Do you associate emotion with a particular scent or taste?

Yes, I do. Scents usually take me by surprise.

Certain perfumes/colognes remind me of times and people in my life.

Certain foods do that as well.

The smell of paper will always remind me of school - mostly math classes.

The smell of books reminds me (mostly) of countless hours doing research for debate. ;)

Theaters have their own smells as well. A musty, old paint kind of smell that sticks with you.

These are all I can think of for the moment.

:D

Time for sleep.....

Yeah, I'm tired. You were asking for *emotions*... not memories!

I'm going to sleep anyhow. ;)

 for Rhys.

(consider this a bump!)

Cool thread idea. I hope it takes off.

I'll have to try that recipe, Rhys. :)

I have soap scented with lavender oil. It's really strong, and the whole bathroom smells like lavender because of it. I love the scent of lavender. For some reason, it just makes me breathe easier.

I've got lotion scented with spearmint and eucalyptus. It's supposed to be aromatherapy for clearing the mind and reducing stress. It actually works. I love the scent, and it's soothing.

I've got a perfume made with neroli and lime oil. Sounds like a funky combination, but it's great. It's got a strange scent, but it's appealing, kind of sexy.

I love the smell of yarrow. It's another one that just seems to clear my senses. It's medicinal, and kind of sharp, and I certainly wouldn't wear it as a perfume, but it's a comforting smell.

Cloves smell good. Kind of gets me going, you know? Unf. Yeah, cloves make me horny. So does oxygen.

There are so many more, too. I hadn't realized how scent-oriented my little world is. :)

Dragon's Blood. It's an essential oil made from a crushed root of the same name.
Very soothing. I dab it on whenever I'm stressed or upset.

Oh I have massage body oil. I add a few drops of Jasmine and Rose essential oils or Jasmine and Patchouli and give my lover a rub down with it. The scent and feel of my hands kneading and massaging his muscles not only turns him on it drives me wild!

Dragon's Blood is a good one. How's it going, pimp mama? :)

I like the scents of ginger and pear mixed together. I used to get mixed scents from Garden Botanika when they had a shop at the mall, and I would get shampoo made with ginger and pear. Weird combo, but it's good.

Better than expected Naudiz. Surprizingly so.

Anything with ginger is yummy. I'm overly sensitive to scent, so my house is full of candles. I LOVE my Peach Ginger candles and you wouldn't think that would work either.

well...oxygen makes me randy too Naudiz...:)

and then there's Cinnabon. I don't know what it is about that place...

*schwing!*

I'll now imagine Rhys at the food pavillion in the mall, and the images will haunt, yet amuse, me all day.

Thank you. I think.

Love in the potted palms at the food court

This sounds awesome, will have to put it together!!

I love the smell of ylang ylang soo sweet.

I have a real thing for sandlewood

in fact, I wear it in lieu of cologne sometimes

The smell of cut grass.. harvested hay.. and summer field burning, remind me of home. All of which give me allergies from hell.

Favorite flowery smell.. Dianthus.. reminds me of my mom

Favorite smell altogether Vanilla, lately this Vanilla and Sandalwood mix I have.

I walked into my dad's house and he had just grilled some hamburgers.. it reminded me of family BBQ's we used to have. Instant flashback.. it was cool.

I used to have Dragons Blood essential oil once.. pretty potent stuff.

I just bought half a dozen coconut candles.. favorite summer smell. :)

coconut and sandlewood both remind me of Hawaii

sigh....
