I was browsing Amazon.com and found an obscure reference to a band which led me to this site, which seems to specialize in antimusic. Not to criticize individual taste or anything, but gawd, this shit freaks the hell out of me!

So of course my next wacky thought is, why not put that to use?

No, seriously. Check out some of the sound clips, especially in the "dark ambient" and "martial" categories. Don't you get remarkably clear mental images of the worst kind of mindfuckery? Interrogations, torture, the possibility of psychological trauma...all evoked in these repetitive, horrifying drones. Definitely not for your average Sunday afternoon.

Think I'll look into it for a lonely Friday night, though...

Black Legions

Thanks Quint. Black Legions in the dark ambient section really fits my mood right now.

I am drinking the dark this evening and on edge play of self destructive behavior.

I guess I got alot of stress built up. I get this way when I have stuffed stress for a period of time.

My answer is usually to turn my music up so loud I can't think of anything and find my own headspace.

Trying something new tonight.

I will be working out tonight with my weights till I can't feel my arms anymore. Take out my anger and rage on myself for a while.

Thanks for the link.

Spooky stuff! :D

The ones I listened to sounded more like sound effects than sounds, but some of these tracks would sound great as the background of a very scary sci-fi/horror film.

ok, so maybe I'm just retarded, but I couldn't find where you could listen to it ...

I recommend Diamanda Galas for scaring the living shit out of your interrogation victim.

I recommend Fred Lane on Shimmydisc with little ditties like "fun in the fundus" and "greetings from the one who cut you" for stuff that sounds like a far more malevolent Richard Cheese, could be a very creepy scene indeed.

I adore Richard Cheese! Have all his albums *snicker*

How about the UNedited version of the Disturbed song where they start begging mommy not to beat them any more and then kill mommy?

That will fuck with someone's head :D

And Net, nice to meet someone else who's heard of Diamanda LOL

I love that Disturbed song.....

Eminem's "Kim" is also one that freaks me out a bit......"Bleed bitch bleed" to the accompaniment of gurgling and choking sounds.

Or maybe some Rammstein, especially if you know what they're singing about......"Buck Dich" or "Bestrafe Mich".....;)

I want to burn a CD of all humorous novelty songs
tie someone up
blindfold her
and start the music right as I start the beating
I figure all the weird music and comedy should fuck with her head enough to keep her from ever going out of her head enough to have fun :D

Heh, I listen to the opposite end of terror-music. Terrorcore, speedcore, ____core... it's the stuff I make (well, I don't make it too often, sometimes I'll go for hard techno stuff.) But I have loved this type of music for years - the really slow drone and the extremely fast blast beats.

I should also note that speedcore (250-400 bpm) makes great music to masturbate too - fingering and handjobs and stuff.

I saw Pansonic at the Walker Art Center, a sound-art-DJ outfit that makes brutal noise.

I literally felt dirty afterward, like I wanted to shower. It was so assaultingly loud and relentless without having the least bit of pleasure in it, and yet we didn't leave, we just sat there. I remember being with my ex who was totally vanilla and we talked about how it felt a lot like a masochistic experience where we sat there like fucking dumb animals while being psychologically tortured.

Not something I'd ever see again, but really interesting.

Most brutal art noise is not good - it's a hit and miss genre and a set will never have very stellar tracks throughout the whole set. Most of it is good at 50% headphone volume while chewing on vegetables.

TMBG.. They'd be horrible for a scene. You get someone like me tries to follow the words and then they're not following what you're doing off in the corner so then when you come out with your whips, chains, floggers, knives whatever would really be a surprise..

I saw a John Stewart show of her on vocals, JOhn Paul Jones (and if you have to ask whose bass player he used to be, then you are not a rock fan) on bass and some bad ass drummer. She was doing screaming noise guitar with her vocal chords. It was awesome.

When you get to the second page (after you click on Ominous Drone Records that is), there are links on both right and left. At the left, are Audio samples and Compilation samples.

But, if you can't find those, below are links to those pages, if they work for you.
