Some back story.

My wife and I work in the same hospital. Different floors but different floors.

My wife is recovering from a major cold. One of the side effects has been major Post Nasal Drip which causes her to cough.

In work this afteernoon I received a call from the Charge Nurse on my wifes unit. She was obviously aggitaded as she told me my wife was having a problem breathing and I needed to get there soonest. I made it down two set of stairs without touching more than one stair. (I think I left a dent in the wall when I opened the fire door.)

When I arrived on my wifes floor I was informed she had gone into Respiratory Distress and had been taken to the E.R.

I don't remember taking the two flights of stairs to the ground floor, but I have been told I called my unit and informed my Charge Nurse what was happening.

When I arrived at the E.R. I was greeted by a new Security Guard. He asked me whoI was and why I was there even as the Triag Nurse told me what room my wife was in and the Head of Security showed up and pulled him to the side.

I got to my wifes room as the M.D. on duty was checking her out. I watched for a minute and my wife started another coughing fit. She was coughing so hard that she became breathless. Not able to catch her breath she went into panic mode and started Hyperventilating. I stepped in as the M.D. called for Respiratory Therapy. I got my wife to focus on me and started talking her down. The M.D. stood there in shock as I got my wifes breathing back under control. He asked me what I had done and why.

My wife is now at home and resting comfortably. (My pulse rate is still a bit high I'm sure.)

This was not what I wanted to have happen today.

Yes my wife is doing better.

No coughing, thanks to the Anti-Coughing meds.

She about comatose though.

Scared the crap out of both of us though. I know from personal experience what she dealt with. (Pneumonia seveal years ago.)

As for what I felt, well she is what is important to me. I would have given anything to change places with her. (If you are in love you know what I mean.)

Damn Cat. You just don't seem to ever have enough excitement in your life

Soothing eucalyptus vibes to your wife and a soothing, anti stress  for you.

Glad she's better, and at home with you where she'll continue to get better. Give her my love.

Wow. Glad she's home and doing better. Sending healing vibes y'all's way.

And the trading places with her sentiment? Melted my heart.

Well done, Cat. True love. Give the doctor your knowledge.

There is nothing, repeat nothing, as scary as almost losing your life-partner. Glad to hear she's recovering.

Glad she is doing well.:kiss: for both of you.

When my daughter was younger, she had panic attacks. They would mimic heart and respiratory problems, and she would hyperventilate. The only thing that would stop them was for me to hold her face in my hands, get her to focus on my voice, and slow her breathing. The docs didn't understand it, but it works.

Love does wonderful things.

((((((((((SEA CAT))))))))))

I know what you wife has been through intimately.
Sending healing angels and blessed good vibes your way....:rose::kiss::rose::kiss:

I'm so glad you were there, SeaCat, and relieved to hear that she's doing better. All of the warmest thoughts and prayers to Mrs. SeaCat.

Thanks all,

She is doing better today. The Meds are starting to work, although the Cough Medicine is knocking her ass out.(She doesn't like how the Albuteral affects her but she's going to keep using it.)

Again, thanks for the good wishes.

Huge enormous hugs, SeaCat. I went through major hospitalization with the Babe last year and it was not even a little bit fun at all. I'm glad Mrs. SeaCat is doing better and wish her and you a speedy recovery.
