I'm sure this thread has been done before but I did a search and found nothing soooooo i'm doing one of my own.

What scars do you have and what are the stories behind them?

I have a large knife scar on my shoulder (a friend pretended to throw a knife at me... and let go, fool)

I have a scar on the underside of my cock, it's very faint and from a bike crash.

I have a scar on my arms from having a pair of scissors chucked at me.... not the same friend.

I expect to have a scar from getting slashed by a dart on new years eve.

I have a scar on my wrist from getting a branch stuck in it.

I have the usual punching scars on my knuckles...

I have a small scar on my neck from a flying hubcap.

I have a scar on my stomach from falling from a small cliff.

I have a scar on my stomach from a bike brake.

I have a scar on my stomach from another bike crash...

I have a few scars really.... and thats just a few of them

Usual punching scars? Didn't realize that was so normal lol

Let's see, appendicitis scar

pierced eyebrow scar

left shoulder scar from a snowball incident when I was a child

and numerous small scars from when I worked in a factory cleaning mirrors...damn razor blades can be dangerous!

You cleaned mirrors with razor blades?

And i mean usual ie recognisable ones... not usual meaning everyone has them.

I don't go around hitting things btw,,,

I mostly have surgical scars:
an assortment of small scars, the result of my lapbanding surgery.
I have a big scar hip to hip for having an ovary removed,
I have numerous scars in my navel from laparoscopies that I had in the pursuit of motherhood.
I have a chickenpox scar on my lip which I got tattooed over.
I have a nasty scar on my right ankle from a horrible accident I had when my son was a baby. I tripped on stairs carrying him and landed 3ft below on concrete. To save his life I fell oddly and did stakes of damage. the tissue was so badly compressed when the emergency room staff saw it, they thought I'd badly broken my ankle.

car mirrors, in simple terms, they were put together with some goo that would get stuck on the front. Razor blades and alcohol did wonders.

And you definitely don't sound like you go around hitting things:eek:

Wow, that sounds pretty major. The things mother's will do to protect their children...amazing :rose:

and I clearly didn't read your scars thoroughly because you said you have a scar on your branch from a branch

I only have two. One on the web of my left hand where I was shot and one on the right side of my abdomine where I was shot. (Different times)

I have a broken nose (the bridge is bunched up with scar tissue)
I have a few puncture scars on my neck from small pieces of shrapnel
I have a scar on my index finger where I sliced my hand cutting razor wire
and I have two on my face (mostly faded) from a dog attack.

That's it..

Index finger left hand (nearly cut my finger in half at the knuckle...no feeling in index finger at all).

Right forearm knife wound scar.

Above right eyebrow (hit in the head with baseball bat as child).

Left leg - .303 bullet scar when my friend mistook me for a kangaroo. He swung his rifle to follow the kangaroo and hit me instead. Luckily for me it was WW1 ammunition and a partial misfire.

Left thumb - deep cut when splitting bamboo with an old-fashioned cut-throat razor.

Nose - end sliced when my mother was opening a 14lb tin of corned beef during rationing. The final bit of the lid wouldn't come. When it did, it flew across the room and cut my nose.

Inside of right wrist - lightning mark like Tong membership sign. Cut when I fell on a jagged flint.

Left little finger - marked fingernail when I was run over by the milkman's horse when I was riding my new tricycle in the snow. I was three. My parents didn't know that I was out in the cul-de-sac (dead-end) street. The milkman had left his horse and cart in the main road facing into a snow storm while he went to service (ahem!) one of his customers. The horse knew that the next stop was around the corner, out of the wind, so set off on its own.

Above left eyebrow - cut from shattered goggles when I crashed one of my motorcycles.

Under middle toe on left foot - cut on rusty tin can when wading a river carrying a female friend on my back. The injections for tetanus hurt more than the injury.

Visible only on X-Ray - flattened vertebrae on spine caused by repeated impact accidents to back. I was an incompetent sportsman. I rode - and fell off - horses and motorcycles, on roads and racing across country. I climbed cliffs, rocks and mountains and fell off all of them. I was part of a cliff rescue team and sent down the rope when it was windy or stormy because I was larger and heavier than anyone else in the team. I was bashed against the cliffs and the rocks at the bottom.

Plus operation and other minor scars...

I have way too many to list. And probably quite a few that I've forgotten about that I can't see.

Ditto. But for starters two big ones on my left knee and I just made a new one (against the grain) on my ring finger.

Most of my scares have faded out over the years.

I still have the one on the inside of my right little finger. I broke the finger in a sprint car flip back in the early 70.

Part of the scare on my left knee from surgery remains but most of it is gone. The same for the scares on my left ankle.

The bullet hole in my lower right chest is just a small dent about the size of the bullet.

A chicken pox scare at the corner of my eye. Both my sisters have one in exactly the same spot. Weird.

The rest are no longer visible except in my mind.

Same here though the most obvious one is a major surgical scar from the top of my left buttock clear down to next to my knee, service connected. And an entire collection of scars on my poor abused left hand from tools held in the right.

I have a little scar on my right baby finger from when I sat on a flagstone walk and reached into the seam between the rocks, as I slid my hand forward I sliced my finger. It took 3 stitches... doesn't sound like much, but it nearly took the finger since I was barely four years old at the time.

I have a scar on the second toe of my right foot from having it sewn back on. DO NOT RIDE YOUR BIKE IN BARE FEET. My foot slipped off the pedal and the spokes tore my toe so badly that only a very thin piece of skin remained intact. The doc thought it was very likely that I'd lose the thing anyway. I regained complete sensation and my toe looks normal apart from the tiny line surrounding the first knuckle.

The rest are from surgical reconstructions and interventions. I have a connective tissue disease that means I really do fall apart at the slightest provocation. It's a long and boring list so I won't bother you with that. Suffice it to say I have had more than 10 major operations so far.

One long one down my chest from open heart surgery,

One on my shoulder from another surgery

Another on my hip from a surgery

And one on my back from... surgery

And one on my forhead from doing a summersalt out of a swing and onto gravel.

I'm more than lucky in that my hide heals fairly quickly and scars vanish. If that wasn't the case I would like Frankensteins Monster.

Many of my larger or deeper scars can be felt under my skin as keloid.

Most of them I don't remember the causes of them, although a few do stand out.

Running ones hands down my back, or looking at X-Rays one will notice notches in the ribs. Four rows of them from shoulders to hips. When I was ten years old I went sledding on an ice covered hill and at the last moment saw a Barbed Wire Fence. (I have posted about this before.) I was able to duck my head so the bottom strand didn't take my head off but I got fileted.

In my head one can feel the dents from a set of six bolts that were screwed into my skull when I was sixteen thanks to a drunk driver and a broken neck.

Cat

Forehead: Going over bike handlebars when I was 13.

Right pinky finger: Picking up a broken soda bottle for deposit when I was 8. 3 stitches.

Right 'birdie' finger: Crushed in car door when I was 19 and drunk. 1/4 inch shorter than the left.

Left thigh: Falling on a broken fluorescent tube when I was 11. 7 stitches.

Right thigh near the 'Naughty Bits': Bar fight when I was 20. Never step over a fallen opponent who has a knife.

Lower back: Falling off a swing set when I was 6. Needed stitches but my Mother used gauze and Band Aids. Doctors cost money.

I have a scar on my shin from where I banged it against one of the steps in my grandparents' pool. I have a scar on my upper lip from getting hit by a car while I was riding my bike home from school. I have a scar on the inside of my left forearm, and another on the outside of my right upper arm, from having a couple of precancerous moles removed. I have a scars on the ring and pinkie fingers of my right hand from where a rabbit bit me. I have a scar on my left hand from where a frightened cat bit me. I have a scar on the outside of my left forearm where an angry cat scratched me. I have a scar on my left knee from a bike crash when I was little.

That's about it I think.

Better stay away from rabbit hutches and cat houses. :p

That's about it...I've led a fairly uneventful life.

Reminds me a bit of a scene between Rene Russo and Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon 17. ;)

Top of head from a golf club swung by oldest (during a lesson, not in anger)
Forehead from undesired contact with a table
Chin from a similar incident with a piece of road
Inside of right elbow from a bike riding incident
Outside of right elbow from the same bike riding incident
Absomen from two hernia operations
Lower back from spinal taps
Thumb from contact with an operating exhaust system
Thumb from a lawnmower blade (not spinning at the time)
Knee from arthroscopic surgery
Wrist from an no-longer-recalled burn
