Cameron Vale
40s
Cameron Vale was the kind of guy who used his head and wasn't a dick about it, things happened to people through their own life. Good and bad but Cameron was nothing but good, Cameron ended up finding out that he had a brother that was a lot like him. He worked side by side with him to try and figure out why they were so different, and how they ended up the way they were. His name was Darryl Revok but unfortunately, when it came to Darryl he wanted to create more scanners like him and his "Brother". It was Something that could possibly kill everyone but it would be fate that would finally show who's side would win. It was a trap and Luna could sense it, all she could do was look at Cameron. She knew what she was allowed to know and the more she found out about Darryl the more worried she became. He spoke of a sleeping pill that would help expecting mothers with sleep, and unfortunately, the drug was taken off the market because of the birth defects that followed.
While the conversation between Cam and Darryl spoke, the more crazy and over the edge Darryl had become. At first, he wanted to understand why they were what they were. But it seemed like the more he used his ability the more corrupt his ability made him. When he admitted that he wanted to create more like themselves she sat on the edge of her seat. She was worried she knew what was going to happen without needing a gift it was everything she feared. He wanted it so scanners would be gods over the normal. He wanted those that were not scanners to bow before them, to be gods in the eyes of any regular person. She had known Cameron for several years because of her father's work into what they were. She had known about Scanners for most of her life, her father was working on how to help those with the abilities to not die due to there abilities killing them. She listened to them talk and she stood up getting herself a drink. As she drank some of the whiskey she had to be very careful not to think anything to alert anyone, not even Cam.
She had never told Cam what she did to herself to try and help him, she uses to take blood samples of the two and made a couple of injections that would hopefully give her their ability on a small scale. But she knew that if she used the ability it could kill her, which was why she didn't tell either of them what she was doing. And Luna had every right to worry because she never lied to Cameron but she also did things in the shadows form time to time. She had vowed to do whatever it was she could do, in order to safeguard Cameron. Perhaps it was selfish but she didn't want to die on him, and Luna didn't want Cameron to die too soon. She made a silent promise that she would see old age kill him, not by the hands of anyone scanner or not. The boundaries she crossed she never regretted, which was why what Cameron did to take her out of the fight would piss her off. But she wouldn't be able to blame him, for he didn't know what research she had been working on behind his back.
He must have sensed something change within her own mind however because after she put the glass down, she felt very light-headed. She grunted as she turned around and she was very uneasy about what could happen. "Don't do this Cam...." She shot him a look telling him telepathically. But Cameron wouldn't want her to put herself in harm's way. Luna felt him start to fuck with her head, but when she sat down she felt very light-headed. She tried pushing him out of her head but she didn't try too hard because the fight ahead could kill him, so fighting him she didn't do very well. Over time together he taught her how to fight off scanners telepathic powers. In moments and before she knew it she fell onto her side, everything getting darker. She felt Cam take her out of the room and she grabbed onto his hand causing him to look at her. "You knew I wanted to help...." She said tears streaming down her cheeks, knowing he had a 50/50 chance fighting one as powerful as he was.
But because of the honest fear that she had, something inside her woke her up, in that moment everything was in slow motion, she opened up the door and saw something horrific. Cameron was loosing and it threw her into a rage, she couldn't let him do this alone, she would be damned. She closed her eyes and extended her arm out and when her eyes opened up she squeezed her hand causing Darryl's heart to stop beating. Luna was showing a side of her no one had ever seen before, and it was then she could understand why he became corrupt. She liked the feeling of control and it scared her, when her eyes looked over at Cameron she wouldn't go to Darryl's level to kill. Her nose was bleeding and she was getting light-headed and it was then she knew what had to be done, she let Darryl go and closed the distance between herself and Cameron. Her eyes glowed and went from dark brown to grey, she tilted her head to the side and went into Cameron's head as her eyes closed and she was able to speak with him. They were in the same room but it was dark and it was the two of them and not Darryl. "I don't have much time....We don't have much time...." Walking right up to him she placed her hands on each cheek and looked into those beautiful blue eyes.
"I had to ensure you lived I have had nightmares about what could happen, your bastard brother destroyed everything about my life except you. I have loved you for so long, the long glances and kind words. You have always had an open mind and because of it we are possible, it's stupid and dangerous but I cannot lose you. I know my power is nothing compared but you need a boost or the only man I have ever loved will die, and I will NEVER let that come to pass" Looking into his eyes she smiled at him, afraid she would lose him regardless. "Take what I did to myself and use it, I can withstand anything and everything but losing you. Nobody fucks with my family!" The way she said it in his mind she heard the anger bounce off the walls of his mind, and when she snapped out of the trance she put herself in she saw the look Cameron gave her. The love in her heart and in her mind kept her sane so she would never cross the boundaries that Darryl would if allowed to live.
Looking at Darryl she saw him recover, narrowing her eyes as she released Cameron and then Darryl "There is one thing you didn't count on Darryl.....and it was how strong of a bond I have with Cameron. I looked up to you I worked for you and you murdered my whole life, and in return, I was a loyal scientist. Nobody dared go against you and I was the only one with the balls to do it. I tested your levels I tested your blood and in return, I will see you burn!" She was losing herself as she felt her knees hit the floor but her look showed what she was willing to do. Raising both her hands out to Darryl as she closed her eyes and when her eyes opened up they were dark brown again. She snapped her fingers and they both were in her mind.
Out of the shadows her mother and father came out, as did other people Darryl had killed, it was the rage within her that wanted out of her. But as Luna spoke so did the victims all their voices combine but singular. "Inside all of us is hope...Fear...Love but for some, there is an all-consuming darkness an evil that cannot be contained a person's compulsion to kill isn't written all over their face. It's in their mind...That's where we go." She placed her hands on her hips and cracked her neck. She cried out so loudly glass shattered around her and she did what had to be done in order for Cameron to win. But when she saw his body burn and that look she wanted to put him out but didn't, she saw this was a test for her to see how much she trusted him. And when done she heard Darryl scream and his eyes were white, but she heard two males scream, and before she had a chance to do anything her world went black.
When she woke up she was in the room her body inches from a charred body, she was almost too weak to move but she managed to crawl her way to the body. "No....." Luna placed her hand on the body and as the body crumbled she witnessed what she passed out for she didn't miss too much of it and didn't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Closing her eyes she reached out to whoever was left and whatever was left, but she felt life around her which caused her eyes to open up. She managed to get onto her knees and her eyes looked around and her heart was beating so loudly it was almost hard to stay awake, she wouldn't feel this way if he was dead so she spoke to him.
"Cameron...?" she said even though she saw his body crumble into dust, she still felt him in her mind so she knew he wasn't dead. Slowly standing up she started to glow because she did not know what to expect, she noticed a a jacket in the corner. But watching it move her eyes went wide as she saw Daryll, she walked over to him ready to kill him until she noticed his eyes. She collapsed right in front of him.
"Luna....We've Won...." She heard him say and it was still him in the body of their worst enemy. She did not know what to say to him, but he was still the man she loved no matter the body he was in. She slowly placed her hand on his cheek, when she placed his hand over the hand on his cheek, she saw what happened how he had to go within his brother to stop him, watching the fight tears fell down her face. She wrapped her arms around him crying into his shoulder "Thank god your okay Vale" She felt something wrong and she sat up a bit and noticed Cameron saw his reflection.
"Cameron? what is it?" But when that question slipped out of her mouth she knew it was a stupid one. Looking at what he say a tear fell down her face, she placed her hand on his cheek moving in front so he could not see his reflection. "You are still the Cameron Vale that I work with and have fallen in love with despite everything." As his eyes locked onto hers she smiled a little. "Your eyes and voice are still the same. I see you and I hear you and will always love you no matter the body you are in sweetheart"
