The approval rating for the president has plunged eight points in a month in this CNN poll, and it’s likely even worse if you consider the poll sample. Remarkably they sampled a mere 25% Republicans. The balance is Democrats and so-called independents, with 31% Democrats and 44% independents, which is kind of strange. Is 44% of the public really independents or are they embarrassed Democrats?

A new poll finds President Obama’s approval rating plummeting 8 points to his lowest rating in over a year and a half amid a slew of controversies.

A CNN/ORC survey released Monday shows Obama with a 45 percent approval rating, down from his 53 percent mark in mid-May. Fifty-four percent say they disapprove of how Obama is handling his job.

The poll also finds that 49 percent believe Obama is honest to 50 percent who do not, the first time a majority have not found the president to be trustworthy.

A majority, 53 percent, also express doubts he can “manage the government effectively,” with 47 percent showing confidence.

The president lost sizeable ground among independents, with 37 percent approval and 61 percent disapproval, down from his 47-49 disapproval last month.

The survey’s findings come as the administration handles the fallout from leaks disclosing the National Security Agency’s secret surveillance of phone and Internet data to catch terror threats.

Just imagine the horrific shape he’d be in if we had a media that wasn’t so hopelessly devoted to him.

Merc and KO will be here to defend their precious any min....just you guys wait!!! NO ONE TALKS ABOUT THE MESSIAH LIKE THAT!! NOBODY!!!

It's what I would expect, given that Reuters, Gallup, CBS News, and others all have him around 45% as well.

The GOP is in a tough position now though regarding immigration. America hates Republicans and will continue to hate them if they obstruct immigration reform. But if they go along with it then Obama is likely to get an approval bump.

Given that the Republican Party's approval rating is currently at an all-time low of 33% maybe you could speculate as to some reasons people aren't identifying with them as much?

Why, when I should have predicted you'd post an out of date poll?

So you don't think the Republican Party's approval rating is any different than the poll done earlier this year? Or you do? Or you're going to run from the question like a coward?

Which is it?

What difference does it make? Does it mean that he can't be Secretary General of the UN in four years?

CNN: OBAMA APPROVAL/TRUST RATINGS TAKE BIG HIT

by JOHN NOLTE 17 Jun 2013, 6:46 AM PDT

Over the course of just one month, President Obama's approval rating in the CNN/ORC poll has dropped a full 8 points to just 45%, his lowest rating in eighteen months. His disapproval rating climbed to 54%. On the all-important issue of trust, the president took a 9 point hit. Only 49% of those surveyed believe Obama is honest, his first time under 50 and the lowest level of his presidency.

In worse news, back in 2006, only 52% of Americans disapproved of how President George W. Bush handled government surveillance of Americans. Today, a full 60% disapprove of Obama on the same issue.

This is likely due to the fact that Bush always made clear that the War on Terror was his foremost concern and that he was doing everything possible to make us safe. On the other hand, Obama ran against Bush's surveillance state and now tells us that the War on Terror is pretty much over. But then we learn that rather than wind down the surveillance along with the war, he has put it on steroids.

It is apparent that all the scandals have finally taken a toll, especially among those under thirty, where the president saw a 17% decline in approval. Approval among Independent voters collapsed ten percent, to a measly 37%. Disapproval rocketed 12 points to 61%.

CNN's polling director Keating Holland says, "It is clear that revelations about NSA surveillance programs have damaged Obama's standing with the public, although older controversies like the IRS matter may have begun to take their toll as well[.]"

Yeah but you don't care about CNN polls. You're a Rasmussen man, and Rasmussen is showing no change.

Are you just cherry picking or is Rasmussen full of crap now?

Neither, just pointing out the news worthiness of the Communist News Network has come to the conclusion their Sun Prince is failing.:D

And you disagree with their poll? You were just doing that 'reporting the report' thing you do?

I'm sure the methodology was weighted towards Democrats, so in that vein I think it's worth reporting, after all it's what democrats think. Like I said the bummer is the loss of support among the young, no doubt fueled by him fucking around with their electronic data and devices.:D
But the Democratic Party doesn't reflect the diversity of opinion of its voters.

Well no shit...the GOP is full of fucking assholes who want to put foot to chin and jack hammer their personal shit down everyone's throat and charge them for it just to rub some salt in. But america doesn't hate them...just the democrats in america. The other Americans obviously do not as they elected them...while I agree on an emotional gut reaction level, because I hate 99.9% of them as well, I also understand that your statement is just not true.....and it makes you sound like a fucking asshole, because you are.

The only thing that makes the DNC any better is they are polite and smile about it.

But if they go along with it then Obama is likely to get an approval bump.

No....no he's not, everyone is starting to see that fucking piece of shit for the liar he is.

Lied about end the wars...

Lied about respecting states rights....

Lied about having a transparent administration....

Lied about making comprehensive health care reform happen.....

Lied about respecting peoples civil rights and instead not only continues the PATRIOT act but expands on it.

Lied about getting us off Saudi and Venezuelan petroleum...instead renews deals with both.

He will walk away with shit immigration reform too...because he will sell out just like he did on all the other stuff. Just a shiny new churched up version of the same old shit, bet the farm.

Why do you think this?

45 is still double 22 (plus 1). See unlike Bush (who's scandals and lies were real and caused many innocent people to die) Obama's scandals have been both invented and exaggerated.

President Bush will leave office as one of the most unpopular departing presidents in history, according to a new CBS News/New York Times poll showing Mr. Bush's final approval rating at 22 percent.

Seventy-three percent say they disapprove of the way Mr. Bush has handled his job as president over the last eight years.

Mr. Bush's final approval rating is the lowest final rating for an outgoing president since Gallup began asking about presidential approval more than 70 years ago.

The rating is far below the final ratings of recent two-term presidents Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan, who both ended their terms with a 68 percent approval rating, according to CBS News polling.

Recent one term presidents also had higher ratings than Mr. Bush. His father George H.W. Bush had an end-of-term rating of 54 percent, while Jimmy Carter's rating was 44 percent.

Harry Truman had previously had the lowest end-of-term approval at 32 percent, as measured by Gallup.

Views of Mr. Bush's popularity are highly partisan. Only 6 percent of Democrats approve of the job he has done as president, while 57 percent of Republicans approve. Eighteen percent of independents approve.

Interestingly, Mr. Bush also has the distinction of having the highest approval rating for a president, as well as the lowest.

In November 2008, just before the presidential election, only 20 percent approved of the job he was doing as president - the lowest of any president since Gallup began asking the question in 1938.

But Mr. Bush enjoyed a high approval rating of 90 percent -- the highest of any president -- following the Sept. 11 attacks in 2001.

Mr. Bush edged out his father for that highest rating. George H.W. Bush received an 88 percent approval rating in 1991 amid the success of the first Gulf War.

Truman comes closest to Mr. Bush's record low approval rating of 20 percent. In February 1952, just 22 percent of Americans approved of the job Truman was doing as president.

Evaluations Of The President

Half of all Americans, when they look back on Mr. Bush's eight years in office, believe he has been a poor president. Thirty-three percent think he has been an average president. Twelve percent say he has been a good president, and only 5 percent say he has been a very good president.

This evaluation is more negative than the ones Americans gave both the current president's predecessor, Mr. Clinton, and the president's father.

The president has also fallen short of expectations: As Mr. Bush was preparing to enter the White House in January 2001, 43 percent thought he would be a very good or good president. Only 12 percent thought he would be a poor one.

As for the incoming president, the CBS News poll also asked about expectations of President-elect Barack Obama. Sixty-eight percent think Mr. Obama will be a good or very good president - 25 points higher than expectations for Mr. Bush.

Nine in 10 Democrats expect Mr. Obama to be a good president, including 48 percent who think he will be a "very good" one. Republicans are less hopeful, but 38 percent still say Mr. Obama will be a good president.

Opinions of Mr. Bush personally have also taken a hit since his term began, and he receives his lowest favorability rating of his presidency in this poll. Just 26 percent of Americans view the president favorably, while 60 percent view him negatively. In February 2001, a month into his presidency, 42 percent of Americans had a favorable opinion of Mr. Bush.

Vice President Dick Cheney

Vice President Dick Cheney also leaves office amid negative perceptions, as his approval rating stands at just 13 percent. That matches his lowest approval since he assumed office.

Forty-four percent of Americans now view Cheney unfavorably, while 42 percent are undecided or haven't heard enough.

This is a reversal from March 2001, when CBS News took its first measure of Cheney's favorability as vice president. Back then, 34 percent held a favorable opinion of the vice president and only 11 percent viewed him unfavorably.

On The Issues

Assessments of Mr. Bush's handling of two critical issues - the war in Iraq and the economy - are poor. He does better on the issue of terrorism - his strongest area during his years as president - but, even here, less than half approve of his handling of the issue.

In light of the Sept. 11 attacks and the U.S. military action in Iraq two years later, terrorism and the Iraq war have come to define Mr. Bush's presidency. The nation's struggling economy has recently had an impact as well.

Mr. Bush never received stellar ratings on the economy, but as the nation's economic concerns have become more severe, his rating on the issue has plummeted. Currently, 17 percent approve and 77 percent disapprove of his handling of the economy.
