It really sounds like you're going to have fun. We're seriously considering starting an after-school light and stage hand club, like "Roadies" to help in production. How much of that sort of thing do your students actually do?

Light board, spots, sound, special effects, backstage managing -

All of it.

The only thing they aren't doing at present is set construction, though they'll join us next week to begin painting the sets.

The thought of 12-year-olds around power saws worries me too much.

12-year-olds around table saws is a recipe for disaster, also bandsaws and portabile circular saws. Under supervision, the most responsible of them are capable of handling hand jigsaws. I wouldn't let then anywhere near anything else. I spend too much time around power equipment myself. I know what it can do! Brrrrrr . . .
