i just got back from Saw 3. Wow..intense. This might seem rediculous but i will throw it out there anyway. Jigsaw (the "murderer") takes on an apprentice in the movie. He tells her that if she becomes his apprentice, it means that every cell in her body belongs to him. This, the way he speaks to her, and the way he acts around her reminds me of D/s. i think that this is really creepy. i don't like it when negative things like this have a D/s feel to it. It gives me the willies.

Has anyone else seen the movie? What do you think? Do you see D/s in it?

Now i have to try and sleep in this dark, lonely, empty house of mine. Why do i do this to myself? *nervous laughter*

... and how about that cold shower scene with the girl bound in chains?

I haven't seen the movie... only read about it on the 'net.

Bump

Anybody seen it yet?

i have not stopped thinking about it since i saw it (no pun intended). It is the most disturbing movie i have ever seen. It is the the only movie i ever considered leaving. i thought it was a great movie but the torture was insane. What do you think? Did you see the D/s aspect of the relationship between Amanda and Jigsaw?

I'm sorry. My kids told me that this was not a movie for me and I took their advice.
Michael said it was far too graphic and gory for me.

Those kids know their mom really well. ;-)

I've only seen Saw so far and found it disturbing and difficult to watch, but was not surprised to feel that way. The psychology fascinates me so we may see the next 2. Sounds like a comparison can be made in terms of the dynamics of some Master/slave relationships such as our own, but I wouldn't call the relationship in the movie D/s without seeing the movie or there being a clear message it was consensual, understood/informed, and accepted.

Saw 1 was great, Saw 2 was a cheap ploy at capitalizing on the success of the first film. I'm not itching to see Saw 3, but I'll catch it on DVD.

I don't watch horror movies usually. They scare me! Sometimes I will watch one with my kids because they want to but only on DVD in the day time, that's my rule. I then try to cleanse my mind with other things afterwards. The fact that this movie is more about getting into folks minds makes it sound even scarier! Eek!

Why are my posts odd? People can talk about all sorts of things but somehow asking what others thought about a movie is odd?

So i am odd then. Nice to meet you. *offers a handshake*

Hey, it's Aeroil. Did you all think you'd understand? Wait for the explaination. He usually lets it simmer for a bit, first.

Personally, I don't get into horror films. Oh, I like the ones that don't have too many special effects...like the old black and white ones. Those are all great. Dracula, Wolfman, The Invisible Man...etc. And all of those Vincent Price movies were good. I loved those. And, of course ALL of Mr. Hitchcock's are very special to me.

But, the new ones all seem to be full of special effects instead of plot. And, because I know so much about special effects, I tend to look for the mistakes they've done in production, instead of watching the scene.

I look for the pump squirting the blood, how real the blood looks, the switch from the real actor to the prostetic just before the axe comes down, how real the attack is filmed, the seam in the monster's costume, etc.

I thought I'd love the Exorcist, but it was kind of boring. Oh, it was well acted, and all, but it just didn't affect me in the same way it seemed to affect all of my friends.

Haunted houses don't even do much for me. Some are OK, but there is just too much missing. I used to work in a haunted house. I know what they can't do or be sued, so I think that has something to do with it. I guess I'm just doomed to be calm in the presence of monsters.

And, maybe I could cut back on my meds, too.

Ditto. And I already have no appetite, after seeing all that gore I would starve!

Blast, I must remember not to engage in witty commentary while I happen to be running late for classes.

My ranking system was pretty damn arbitrary, don't read into it Kailey ^_^

Actually, I was at school for three hours, then spent some time /w my mom for two hours, then was at work for about eight.

Don't call my math on this, I'm sure its screwed up.

Just saw a review on Saw 3 and they said it was weak and not scary. Seems it has fallen into the same trap many sequels do in that they don't live up to the original.

i would have to agree. It wasn't scary by far but the torture was sickening. i heard that they are going to be making a fourth one too. What are they going to do? All of the main characters are dead. All of the protagonists are gone. i hope this doesn't become another Halloween series. Saw 1 and 2 were good. They should stop while they are ahead.

What's the appeal of the first one? I don't usually like gory movies.

considering i got scared during casper the friendly ghost, and have absolutly no tolerence for anything frightning (i think i mentioned on another post that horror movies send me into a blind panic) i havnt seen any of the saw movies. i could see how a relationshipsuch as the one you described would remind you of D/s.

I do not like ANY gory movies. If I want to see slicing and dicing all I have to do is read the newspaper or watch it on TV.

A suspenseful, intriguing mystery that culiminates with one of the dumbest most random endings in cinema history.

you're NOT the only one. I found myself a tad aroused by his control and power over her. He's also a master at manipulation and mind games

It's BDSM without being overtly so. He's a sadist, she's (Amanda) is a masochist.

LOVE it, LOVE LOVE LOVE these movies, I've always been a fan of horror, but this is the ultimate for me :D

I would SOOO disagree with this. I liked 3 better than 2, although nothing beats the original.

Being "scary" isn't the point. THere were some scenes that were downright DISTURBING, but that's why I liked it.
