Many of us post pics of ourselves as attachments or as AVs, primarily to elicit a positive response from you pervs.

I know of two occasions in the past where people saved my AV or pics of myself I had posted on a thread. While I understand that according to the rules of the Internet, if you disclose something about yourself - pictorally or otherwise - it's fair game, I have taken exception at people saving my pics without asking permission. To me, it's the right thing to do. This is specific to personal pics only; its alltogether a different matter if you save a cartoon AV or something else non-personal.

So, have you saved other Litsters' AVs and personal pics? Did you ask permission first? Did you feel the need to?

Why or why not?

Discuss.

I personally haven't saved any pics or AV's from someone else on Lit. However, if I did I would ask.

When a person shares their pics they are showing a bit of themself. Just because they posted the pic does not make it any less personal. I view these pics as a special privelage... it is not my right to see them and I am grateful that people are willing to post.

Out of courtesy I would hope that everyone asks whether or not they can save a pic. It is just a nice thing to do.

It's kind of silly (to me) to expect people to save off your pics and ask permission.

Just like your VCR tape implies....for use in your own home for your own veiwing pleasure and shall NOT be reproduced in any way shape or form.

I just dont understand why you would care that someone saved off something you shared with the public...or be offended by it.

I've never saved a picture of someone unless it was given expressly to me.

I know that mine has been done though.. usually it's accompanied with a ...right click save ... remark. I think that if I had a problem with it and I asked that they throw it away most would. Not all.. but most.

If a bird doesn't fly south for the winter it deserves to die, and if you post your nude ass on the fucking Internet you should expect it to be copied and sent to that Nigerian minister with all the money problems.

I don't save AVs or pics that are posted here...

Any picture that I receive through file transfer or emails, though, are my option to save. If the sender - in the future - asks me to delete them...I would do so (and have done so in the past).

I would just like the same courtesy offered to me. Also, I don't share those that I have received in emails...if they are sent to me, then that is where they stay.

If someone saved my pics and told me they had, I wouldn't be offended or pissed... I'd actually be flattered.

True when you post your pics they become fair game.. however it IS a nice thing to do to ask. *shrugs*

The only time I would be annoyed is if I emailed someone a pic and they shared it without asking.

I'm not offended, quite the contrary. If I didn't like it, my AV would be something else right now.

But I also subscribe the the idea that just because you have the wherewithall to buy an computer and hop on the internet, that doesn't mean that you should throw common decency out the proverbial cyber-window.

I understand both sides of the coin. While I get a little pissy about people saving my pics without asking, especially if I say I'm going to take it down eventually, I put it out there for everyone to view. It's not my right to tell anyone they can't save them.

I have a site hosted in the Caymans with your genitals earning big money for me, 24X7.

Thank you! Let's do lunch sometime...my treat.

lol

I'm alright with you passing off my genitals as your own.

I save them (right click, you know), and I never thought to ask beforehand, though I'm pretty sure I always tell whomever it is that I have. I usually only save them because I like the person and I'm developing some sort of friendship with them. I guess I just assumed that if it were there, it was for the taking.

I don't. But I never equated you with the likes of them.

I don't mind, personally. But I would like to know that my pics have been saved. Just so I know.
Otherwise, I don't care

Ah, but you do care. And by being told, it gives you the opportunity to ask the person to not save your picture/AV. Otherwise, you wouldn't ask to be told, no?

I think if you post something in a public place, here or any other forum, it's fair game. If you're worried about it, don't post things you'd be afraid to have someone save.

I see your point.

But, in all fairness, what I meant was that I don't mind who wants to save them, I would just like to know they have.

Now, are you saving my pics again?:D

You can always put a Copyright notice on your pics if you want to advise people that they may not be reproduced without permission.

I'm glad you dont :)

But why does it bother you (or take exception to) the fact that MaryX or JoeZ now has a picture of you on their computer? You say it's flattering but since they didnt ask you there is something that just doesnt sit well with you. Actually the only way you would know is if they asked you...and that would be flattering. But if you found out some other way that they had done it are they bad or have lost their credibility?

Let's get to the crux of the biscuit here...

I'm just thinking out loud is all
