Not that I know of. You'd be better off writing it in the text editor of your choice, saving often, then pasting to the submit box when it's ready.

No, when you leave a "submit" page, whatever you have typed is gone. As was stated, use the word editor of your choice, write the story to completion, then submit it to the site. If you don't have a word editor, use an email, save it as a draft until you've got it the way you like, then cut/paste here.

The above replies are incorrect. You CAN save a story's text internally before submission.

* Enter text in the text window; hit PREVIEW; at the end, hit MAKE CHANGES.
* The system will return you to the Submission page with a NOT SUBMITTED message -- and your text remains in place.
* You can now jump anywhere around LIT, then return to your View Submissions page and click on NOT SUBMITTED next to your story title.
* LIT then takes you to the Submission page with the text you previously entered sitting in the text window.
* If you actually want to get rid of it, hit DELETE rather than PREVIEW.

So yes, it's possible. But it's not really the best way to work. As suggested, use a text editor or word processor and save your work.

I have used ZILLIONS of TE/WPs over the decades (I started in computing 35 years ago) and my current Windows favorite is a freebie called JARTE, bundled with the handy WORDWEB dictionary / thesaurus package. I save my text in the free DROPBOX cloud service so I don't worry about hardware failure on my end.

Bramblethorn had the right answer. Do your story in whatever word processing app you use. MS Word works for me. Word also has spell check and other diction input as well. After you proofread and edit, then copy and paste into the submit page.

The submit story page isn't for creating your story, it is used to submit your story once it is finished.

If you are looking to save it, so that it doesn't show up on your computer, prying eyes, save it to the cloud. Personally, I don't use the cloud, but there are several authors here that do, maybe they can give you some quick tips of who, what and where.

Tried to reply to your message but it says I can't. Because you don't accept private messages. Too bad, like your sailing photo, I sail too...
