While reading on the internet I saw this quote, 'In ancient, pre-Christian Rome, Saturnalia was a Roman celebration during which slave owners would switch roles with their slaves'
Hmmmmmmmmmmm

Although we are talking story ideas. Can't imagine the intelligence of this in real life.

My brain's still eggnog-soggy so I can't cite details, but the "topsy-turvy day" tradition existed in various historical European cultures. For one day, maybe New Year's (which wasn't always 1 January) the high and the low exchanged places. Of course, the masters-for-a-day had to be a bit careful how they treated the temporarily downgraded, because the old order would resume the very next day.

I can imagine a rich family with enough money to have their housekeepers, butler and maids to be willing to celebrate this ancient holiday. It would make a nice perk for the hired help to be able to change places with the father, mother and teenage children

So is this story a historical or are you trying to modernize it? Also, doesn't this usually relate to household tasks? As women were pretty low on the totem pole, I'm not quire sure how you would sexualize this, except for the slaves taking over the lady of the house (with hubbys permission), or something like that.

Suppose one of the servants (maybe the butler?) was planning to submit his resignation just before the master came up with this new activity? So he decides to wait until after the big day to tender his departure. Which means he is free to burn any bridges he wants while he temporarily holds the reins of power!

I see it as a modern story and the husband wife and daughter are only too happy to submit to the hired helps dominance....of course its mostly sexual! thats what the whole family wants
