Fear loathing and dread all the way. I hate rollercoasters too.

Someone told me bottoms love rollercoasters and I don't deal in generalities, but I wonder if it's true or not.

Well, I'm a submissive, and I love to travel on planes. I love rollercoasters too. *grin* The faster, the more intense, the more loops, the better! Good thing I live in Florida, land of theme parks LOL.

Although....some day, I want to go to the mecca of rollercoasters. Cedar Point.

Enough about that.

Flying gives me this feeling of being grown up, and a happy feeling of going somewhere, anywhere. It's very odd. I'm never nervous, except in thunderstorm turbulence, but even then its mild.

I'm always a little sad when I finally arrive, that the trip is over.

Me too! And I like being in airports and knowing where I'm going. I even like having my carry-on searched, just to see the looks on the guards' faces when I demonstrate that the hunk of metal in my violin case really is just a practice mute. Plus, I get to whip out a copy of recent legislation that says airport officials are required to let me open my own case and handle my instrument myself. Ha!

All that aside, I don't like the physical sensation of changing altitude. My ears hurt, my eyes water... Blech. Plus you lose your sense of time and distance.

I'd much rather drive!

Of course, I've never ridden a train. That's probably at the top of my list, to try at least once anyway.

I prefer travel by train... especially with the hassle that is flying in the US post 9/11. But, unfortunately, train travel outside of the North East US is almost non-existent. So I fly. In fact, I will be flying this weekend. So I do what I must. <shrug>
If I have the time to enjoy the scenery though, I prefer to drive. Especially if I can go via the 2 lane backroads.

I've flown WAYYYY too much in my career. I used to travel 100%.
I've taken way too many small plane flights.
I only fly full sized jets now.
It all sucks....big time.
If driving is a must, I arrange for someone else to drive. :)

Love to fly. Prefer small planes, but I'll take anything that gets me up in the air. If I didn't have the physical limitation of vertigo, I would have gone for my pilot's license long since.

Driving is nice, providing there is some one I like to share the ride (and they are willing to take the wheel on occasion), and we have plenty of great music and snacks.

Train? Nope, no way. Not unless I'm in the Northeast. Made the mistake of taking the Sunset Limited from New Orleans to Houston. A 9 hour ride became more than 11 hours. And after 2 hours it's boring as hell! When one is desperate enough to play whatever games come on their cell phone until the battery runs down, you know you are bored, bored, BORED!

Flying gets me there quicker, and airports are great people-watching possibilities!

I am a dominant master and I love to fly. If I can't sit next to the window; I lean across the lap of whoever is; so I can look out the window the whole way. The best parts are when you are low over a city and can see everything from above; also the feeling of power as the plane accelerates on takeoff.

The "my life is in the hands of the pilot" thing actually gives me a good "fuck it all--yippee!" feeling.

Enjoy the majority of it. I dig the airport scene, where I can sit with my little notebook or whatever I happen to be reading and surreptitiously check out everyone around me. Plus I always enjoy watching people walking around with such purpose, even if the purpose is only "Must get to my terminal before the damn thing takes off." They look intent and I like that. Best part is takeoff, unless I'm flying at dawn and I get to that point in the sky where the clouds are absolutely exploding with color. Worst part is that sometimes I get impatient with being in transition for so many hours, and I can never really fall asleep like I can in the car. I have never freaked out, but have occasionally gotten sad at the thought of "Hmm, I wonder if they'll land safely this time. Don't really want to die, but there's not a thing to be done for it on THIS end." I'm pretty fatalistic.

Dealing with airlines : sucks

Actual flying: doesn't bother me and it's a hell of a lot faster than driving which is a big plus in my book.

I'm a window person because I don't like people climbing over me and jostling me when I'm either reading or sleeping which is pretty much what I do for the entire flight ---- I prefer the red-eye because it wastes less time in travel. If I'd only be home sleeping anyway why not have myself jetted across the country at the same time. I like seeing if I can pack everything I need into a single carry-on bag.

I like driving, but for extended car trips it would depend mightily on the companionship. Generally I drive alone so I can listen to what I want on the stereo and so I don't have to stop for somebody else's bladder/belly schedule. Also, if it's late or I'm sleepy I don't want anyone bitching if I decide to smoke in order to keep my wits about me.

Trains are slow. If the scenery is good or I've got a good book then I'm fine with it, but I'd rather fly or drive. Fly for speed, drive for ability to stop and sight-see if I want or power on through the boring bits.

Rollercoasters: I want to like them but unfortunately I have recurring nightmares about them. I tried to cure this once by riding some monster coaster at Six Flags about 5 times in a row. Didn't work. I have since occasionally gotten on them because I think they're supposed to be fun, but honestly, I hate that crawly feeling at the base of my spine.

It all depends. Can I get there just as fast with less hassle if I drive? I'll drive.

If I can get there faster by flying, I'll fly. In a perfect world, I'd only fly first class, though.
Even though I'm submissive, I love to be waited on. :D

I am submissive and used to love to fly, but haven't flown in a long time.....i also love rollercoasters :)

Nowadays its more of a hassle to fly with all that has transpired since sept 11th, and now aside from the cost of flights its just easier to drive. Perhaps i will fly again someday but no need for now.

submissive.

Planes are fine, its just the landing that gets my ears, take off is fine though.
as far as rollercoasters go, flip me, turn me, what ever... just do it fast. I can't do that halfmoon shit bc it makes me all woozy.

Submissive-ish

I HATE to fly. Scares me to death, and yeah I know it's totally irrational.

Don't care.

Every time I fly there's a part of me that wonders if I will make it back home. So I avoid it like the plague. Fortunately I don't have a reason to fly anywhere.

Rollercoasters are just fine in my book. I just can't do the motion simulation thingies (trust me on this :p ).

OMG... I have to agree with rosco this once.

female sub, and I love flying. The fact that I am going somewhere. And I like airports, even if theres delays cos people watching is a hobby of mine. The inability to smoke is an issue but I can get over it if I distract myself. I like small planes too, and rollercoasters and swings, and high places where you can feel the wind and see for miles.

irrational?

weak, not logical, sure.

But there's nothing *irrational* about doubt at 30,000 feet.

It's the most rational fear I can think of.

Submissive. Indifferent.. if it is feasible, I fly for really long trips. Shorter ones, I prefer to simply drive, due to enjoying driving, and it being (though currently only marginally so) cheaper than flying.

Not too stressed about the dangers of flying. Life's always fatal, and it isn't the fall that kills you.. it's the sudden stop at the end, eh? *morbid*

(submissive... maybe switch... but definitely submissive)

I agree, flying makes me feel grown-up. I don't mind it, I hate the seats though... if I could get where I was going as fast and as cheaply in a car, I would. It'd be sooo much more comfortable.

But as to rollercoasters... I'm not sure about all subs. I've never been able to tell you if I enjoy the thrill because I have really big inner ear issues (swimmers ear from the shower type of thing) and I get the worst motion sickness. I can do a rollercoaster or two in a few hours and not get sick... but I'll be queasy and that makes it unpleasant for me. I do however, love the bumper cars and spinning things... spinning doesn't bother me, just so long as i am not splung upside in a large up-side-down loop very quickly!

And just thought of something... there are times I would actually prefer to fly because the nausea would be more short term... ever driven through the mountains with winding roads and constant vertigo? NOT FUN. Trust me. I never want to cross the continental divide again by motor vechile. The last time, I threw up twice. And my nose bled.

im a sub and i love to fly...i love the whoosh feeling at takeoff..i always ask for a window seat..i love looking out the window at the ground passing by..i love flying over cities. love it all :)

Living On The Edge

Masochist. I enjoy flying, but while we're up
I'm usually thinking about death and dying.
I feel close to the people on the plane with
me because we will all "go" together if death
is the destiny of the trip. I find it exciting.

If I have to pick a lable, I would guess I identify as a bedroom-only bottom.

I have only been on a plane twice, but I loved looking out the windows. After I got tired of that, I did what I do in cars- sleep. I enjoyed the view, but I would rather not fuss with all the security now days. I would rather just get someone to drive me :)

As a side note, I love rollercosters too, but the strange thing is that I usually have to be forced onto one, even when I know I love the feeling I get. I am not sure if it is just too intense, and that is why I fight it, or what, but I almost always have to be pushed onto that first wild ride.

Dom. Flying is fine, airports are fine, but I hate the luggage bit. I used to be an aircraft engineer in a former life, lots of flying. Even knowing how they work I like em just fine, but no way will you ever, ever, ever get me on a helicopter.

When I lived in Montana, and later Alaska, I had the opportunity both times to transfer from ICU to the Flight Nursing programs. Both times it was the damn helicopter that kept me on the ground. *sigh*

In Alaska, I flew on tiny planes landing on "runways" that were literally just sandbars in the middle of rivers. But I never could master my airsickness on a helicopter. All that going sideways bullshit.

I guess it just wasn't meant to be :p
