Reading thru the threads, I just had an idea for a new satiric piece, but this one is kind of a leap.

I'm curious if y'all think this is too 'inside' to work.

One of the others (sorry... Kendal? Handley?) mentioned the 'Cabin' again, and... Being a comedy-horror enthusiast, I immediately had a flash.

The Evil Dead. Ash... This is my boomstick!

Are there enough readers here that are familiar enough with the movies/series/musical to make that work?

Too inside?

But; the handle is made of Hazel . . . .

Not familiar with The Evil Dead, but I do enjoy satire and comedy.

I'd say go for it NB. I read your stuff and found it funny although you strained it a few times. Still there is room on Lit for the most perverse of perversions the only thing you have to lose is your dignity. :D:D

What? Who? When? Why? and I don't care how.

Zombie, Vampire, Werewolf, and other horror stories, whether serious or humorous, have no appeal for me...besides I have know idea what y'all are talking about.

Long gone...

*sticks finger up nostril*

I'm a whore.

Unfortunately satire and humor float over the heads of most readings on Lit.

I'm with Jack. Plus, we can't knock what we can't read.
OK, at Lit, maybe we can, and we do...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I'll need to do some YouTube homework first, though.

Depends on what generation you'd ask. 'Evil Dead' had already reached cult status when I first saw it as a kid, damn that's a while back. Anyways the whole series still gets discussed once in a while during lunch breaks at the office... Yeah I know, nice subject over lunch but that is what you get when you put a bunch of oldies together in a room filled with food after a gruesome morning.
The revival of Evil Dead with the tv series and the ongoing comic series Army of Darkness might catch you some nice pervs who like the gore and entrails.
If it were me who was going for the Evil Dead franchise I'd do it.
I may be tempted to go for a lighter version, something like 'Tucker and Dale vs. Evil' instead.
Anyways satire is an acquired taste unless you're a fan of Monty Python :)

I wouldn't watch the first two Evil Dead movies for comedy's sake. They're quite intense horror movies with a few comic touches. If I recall, #2 is pretty much a remake of #1 with a bigger budget.

The third one, "Army of Darkness", is more like comedy/fantasy with touches of horror, and it works without having watched the first two.

Actually, 2007 or 2008, under my BostonFictionWriter name, I wrote a funny story about Sarahhh Scouries being in a home for the insane. A time before Nazi moderators, I was surprised that Laurel posted it but she did. It was funny and it did well score wise, especially since her reputation preceded her.

There is an appetite for humor and parody on Literotica. I've written many humorous stories and tongue firmly planted in cheek stories.

I'd say go for it and have fun with it. Actually, again under my BostonFictionWriter name, I even wrote a story about visiting Queen Laurel in her castle. That was funny too.

"Off with his head!"

When Evil dead first came out I was 12 and my aunt took me and my sister to see it.

This scene right here scared the shit out of me(and led to a month of my sister imitating it every time we played cards, or at night she would peek her head in my room and go "queen of spades" in her creepy ass voice

Hmmm

Looks like there are enough folks with an interest to make it a possibility.

Yes... Satire scores poorly here... But that's okay.

I'll start info gathering again... And if I can get the jokes to connect, I will eventually write it.

Yes I know Noir. Keep my day job.

Btw

You've all be gracious about my skewering of y'all.

Thank you,

Everyone has been very polite, which is odd for a room full of bitchy authors.

True, but the occasional gem crops up. "DD's ass was firmer and sounder than a triple A bond issue." So much more memorable than the usual stats.

This approximate quote is from a writer called Contrasting who has a knack for amusing metaphors. Unfortunately, they are rare and buried in a fair amount of guff.

Never heard of 'Evil Dead' or 'Tucker and Dale vs. Evil' .
Monty Python - Yes; in small doses.

I'm a fan of comedy, but I seldom find horror amusing.

Please don't make the result too American; those of us in the Rest of the World might not quite get it.

I've got the Evil now...

I've storyboarded one author's death. I think she will be amused.

Getting there.

Have a few more irons that I'm heatin' up.

I love this place!

How old are you, Nathan? You sound a little perky, mischievous, and "oh my gosh" for being over 60. Seems more like 16 to me.

Leave me out of this one and any others your might do.

You got a pass on the last one but not any more.
