Opening Theme: OverThrow

In the year 2087, Japan has surpassed it's former pinnacle as the height of the world's technology. Recently, U.F.O's have been spotted over Tokyo. And some people even say they saw Aliens in the street. To investigate this threat, Japan has opened a new branch in their government, led by Proffesor Veronica Ivy. She experimented on several captured aliens, and they are not here for peace. So, in retaliation, she designs the "Samurai Zer-0" suit for a group of simple Japanese University students, although, each of them has an ancestor that goes to Japan's Samurai Eras. This suit enables the teens to use ancient Japanese weaponry, mixed with Japan's high technology.

Bio: A student at a Amano University, Nana keeps herself busy. Extremely competitive when it comes to school and sports, she's near the top of her class and excels on the track team. Her parents are divorced and she lives by herself; Nana hasn't seen her mother since she was fourteen and her father is a very busy business man. Generally laid back, she likes to play tennis in her spare time and is happiest when she has something to do.

"Pro..Professor...Ivy..." were the words mumbled from my breath as I slept. It was Monday morning, and it was nearly time for classes. The sound of my alarm soon filled the room, and my hand slammed down upon it. I lifted my body up, and forced open my eyes. "Ivy..." I said. Another dream of my teacher. Do I have some kind of fetish of Teacher relations? No way... She's the same age as me. It's perfectly normal to be attracted to her...

As these thoughts filled my head, more time passed. I soon snapped, and got up. I didn't want to be late again. I put on a long sleeve black shirt, with a white t-shirt over it. I put on a pair of black jeans along with it and walked down. My grandparents went away for a few weeks, so in addition to my school work, I'd have to take care of the Shrine. I walked out of the large Shrine and walked to the University.

I got infront of the large school, and students were outside, talking, playing sports, etc. I got into the school and walked down the halls to my locker. My first period was Science... Meaning I get to see Professor Ivy! These thoughts made me cheerful, and I grabbed my books. I ran to class, and took a seat upfront, as everyone waited for class to begin.

The four meter relay wasn't her favorite event, but, Nana was rather good at it. And, even though it was practice, her face was set in a somber mask of determination even as she cross the finish line. Still holding the batton, sweat making the white and blue edged t-shirt that made up the top half of her uniform stick to her body. Tossing a pleased grin in her coaches direction, Nana took the first offered towel and kept breathing through her nose. She'd finished several seconds before the next runner.

Her cropped black hair was plastered to her face and her pale cheeks were red from running. It was still training season, in which they did sprints until someone threw up, but they were beginning to work on certain events. Relay was good because it kept the team focused while giving everyone a good run. Her blue shorts had bunched and molded to her behind but she somehow managed to wait until she was in the locker room before beginning to remove articles of clothing. From the looks of the boys behind the fence that encircled the track, Nana could tell they were disappointed to not have a repeat of last week's performance.

A quick shower was in order and she let herself a moment to think about the twit who'd tripped and managed to flash everyone in her impossibly short uniform shorts. Even if she wasn't about to admit it, it had been a rather lovely sight. Towelling off quickly, joining in her teammates pre-season banter which mostly included dieting woes and the trials of finding a decent sports bra, Nana pulled a sleeveless black turtleneck over her head and zipped up her khaki skirt. Even in sporty black flats, she felt entirely too dressed up.

There was practice in the morning and after that came her first class of the day, a general Science course that seemed impossibly simple considering Japan's growing scientific prowess over the years. Because everyone was hard pressed to believe a career athlete could actually succeed in academics, Nana found herself sitting boredly in Dr. Ivy's class. Slipping in the seat behind Jin, she took out her notebook and a pen and wondered if she'd have to go grocery shopping after school.

The bell rang signaling the start of the school day and effectively interrupts my delicate calculations. I smile, my first day of teaching college students, I am so excited! I've been teaching only professors of late and they seem to be a boring, if not slightly pessimistic, lot.

Though I may have just started teaching students I am well known around this school by every and for the most part I have been shown an utmost respect, but there are boys who have been vary disrespectful to me.

I step through a reinforced steel door that separates my personal lab from the science lab. I smilingly walk to my work desk and stare at my class.

"Hello, I am Professor Veronica Ivy. Contrary to your beliefs, this class will not be an easy one. I will demand your all from you. If you need help, please, just ask me. Many professors say this, but I mean it: I'm am more than willing and more than capable to assist you."

I turn to the white-board and with a dark purple marker I eloquently write: Emanuel Swedenborg.

My bright eyes turn to the class and I ask, "Who is he? And what is he famous for?"

A little startled by Dr. Ivy's entrance, Nana studied her for a moment before focusing on the board. After a few minutes of the class shuffling around and twittering back and forth, she finally raised her hand.

"Emanuel Swedenborg was a Swedish scientist, philosopher, and theologian. He is credited with giving the first accurate understanding of the cerebral coretx and the ductless glands, especially the pituitary. He is also credited with making contributions to the fields of palaeontology, geology, physics, biology, chemistry, psychology, neuroscience, and astronomy. His matter of study was more philosophical than empirical."

And, in Nana's mind, the man was just a little crazy -- not that she was about to say that aloud. He believed that angels had told him about the workings of the sky and was believed to have psychic powers. Why would Dr. Ivy bring such a man up at the beginning of class?

I nod approvingly to the twenty year old female, "Excellent. Thank you, Nana Ozawa? I do believe that is your name?"

"What you didn't mention: Emanuel Swedenborg is an "original thinker" of metallurgy. His conclusions, of scientific experimental discoveries, regard the proper treatment of iron, copper, and brass. Thus, we have been able to advance our use of metals."

Thoughtfully, I fetch a small data processing unit from my lab coat. I note that the young student receives five bonus points.

"Nana? Can you further elucidate the topic of Swedenborg's metallurgy? If you can't that is fine." I politely ask the young girl.

"Yes, Dr. Ivy, I'm Nana Ozawa."

The young woman was only pleased with her answer for a moment and did a valiant job of hiding her frown when the professor asked if she could continue further with the question. She hated not knowing the exact answer and felt, for a moment, that all eyes were on her to answer. If Swedenborg weren't already dead, she'd have killed him herself.

"I'm afraid I'm not as well versed as I'd like to be. However, I do know he wrote at least two books on the subject, shortened to Iron and Copper. He explained the process of smelting very clearly, talked on length of the proper handling of metals, and turning iron into steel."

Tucking a lock of black hair behind her ear, Nana wanted to kick herself. She just had to always have an answer and she'd keep blabbing regardless. It was frustrating enough that she thought the man was a bit touched, not to mention she didn't have as good an understanding as she wanted.

The man talked about angels and left behind science to go about being a mystic. Even in modern times there was a slight cult following and a so called "New Church." Then again, she'd rather be angry at the dead man than herself.

I closely watch Nana's face as she struggles with herself. She doesn't realize that I'm not even looking for the correct answer, but instead judging her academic potential.

My smile is gentle and encouraging, "I am very impressed, Nana."

Since she did give me accurate information and participated most wonderfully, I quickly change her five bonus points to ten.

I laugh lightly, "You must be aware that I am a sucker for random facts of information. Knowing such, you should not be surprised when I ask questions that seemingly have no relevance with the subject at hand."

My hand unconsciously tucks stray hands of hair behind my left ear. Thoughtfully, I tap my nails on the desk surface. "Well . . . tell me. What activities could we do for the rest of class?"

The class room was silent at her question. It was rare indeed to see a teacher ask such a thing. I, for one, even with a couple ideas in mind, decided not to speak. I was never really one of those students who raised their hands to answer a question. Let alone, from THIS teacher. No... I was silent in class. Hopefully, I thought, someone will soon break the silence.

Why did everyone remain silent? They must be shy! That is so cute! I analytically survey the students. Until I finally catch sight of him. Jinketsu Miyamoto.

The digital pen in my hand flies quickly over the data processor in my other hand. I access a file and quickly read its contents.

He's twenty one years of age, a heterosexual, and his ancestor is Musashi Miyamoto. Ha!

Smiling sweetly I ask him, "Jinketsu Miyamoto? What should we do for the rest of class?"

Oh no... She had to spot me... Out of 60-some students, she had to pick me. Suddenly, a nervous feeling went over my body, and I swallowed my saliva. "Uhh...I dunno m'am." I said. Bad first impression, I thought.

A sucker for random facts, oh, that was fun. Nodding anyway, relieved that she wasn't looking for an exact answer, Nana settled back into her seat and began scratching out a grocery list. When Dr. Ivy asked if there was anything that they could think of, she almost groaned. The class was silent and just when Nana was about to suggest they go ahead and talk more about Swedenborg and his contributions to metallurgy, when Dr. Ivy called on Jinketsu.

Cute, he was blushing. Well, at least the back of his neck had taken on an unusual shade of red. Which meant he was only one of the many boys at school who had a crush on the pretty professor. Shaking her head and stealing a glance at the clock, Nana wished they could fast forward to the end of her classes. She had a tennis game scheduled with one of the guys on the boys' track team and that seemed much more fun than sitting in an uncomfortable class.

I catch Nana looking to the clock and smile. Eager to get out of my class? Well, that couldn't do.

"Nana? You seem restless. Let me get your attention off of the clock and onto me. Do you know of any metal in existence that can be manipulated with the simply power of thought?"

I smile kindly at her and await her answer.

Nana's eyes snapped up from her paper and she set her pencil down gently. In matters of proper answers and such, she was always one to please. But, she wasn't about to allow the professor to embarass her in front of the class.

"Well, Dr. Ivy, I suppose Mercury can be a little tricky, but, I wouldn't know of any metal that can be manipulated simply by the power of thought."

She paused, her expression as stoic as if she were competting in a race. After a moment, she broke into a rare smile and nodded in the young woman's direction.

"Perhaps you wouldn't mind enlightening the class? It surely isn't anything I've come across in my studies."

At least it would be something to do as opposed to fidgeting through class or listening to the boys twitter. She was always game to learn something new. That and she wasn't about to back down from a challenge.

I grin at Nana, "If you and any others are curious about this then, please, stay after class and come talk to me."

My right hand slips my D.P. pad (my data processor) into my coat pocket and my left hand grabs a stalk of multicolored paper.

"Jinketsu, would you please gift every student with one of each colored papers? Thank you." I watch him amusedly. Very shy when put in the spotlight.

"Today is a "B-schedule" day. Meaning all of your classes are effectively cut into half. You will get to go home early, treat for you. The papers you will be receiving are all of the permission forms, et cetera. They are due tomorrow, if any of you forget to bring it, please do not even bother to come to my class. As college students you need to be prepared, not just for class, but for life. That means you always need to be prepared!"

Annoyed with so much talking I ask the very age old query, "Any questions?"

"Yes mam!" I said, entusiastically. I grabbed the colored papers and passed them around, not forgetting myself of course. I looked at them as I passed them around. It was the usual things. It would be no problem for me. I was quiet in class, but I was always a great student.

"Yes ma'am."

While she was a little put off by the response, Nana was far from surprised. Dr. Ivy had certainly proved to be different from any professors she'd had in the past. Not that it was necessarily a bad thing. Deciding to stay put, always wanting to know more, she took the papers from Jinketsu and looked them over. It wasn't anything too terribly important and anything that needed a second signature, which would be rare considering it was a college course, she could get from her coach. Once again, her father was out on business.

As much distain as she'd held for the general Science course, Nana was beginning to feel that it might not be a waste of her time. Granted, it was Dr. Ivy's first time teaching someone other than professors, but, she seemed to be warming up quickly. Not to mention the woman was rather quick. Shifting in her seat, all thoughts of tennis out of her mind, Nana waited for the professor to go on further about the metal she'd brought up.

Curiosity killed the cat...

The rest of the class period is filled with pointless banter and I return to my D.P. pad. My mind races through the formulas of alter matter and I diagnose the problem quickly.

As fast as the solutions is acquired so is another problem. "The power source . . . it is too petty. Sustaining total form for no longer than an hour or so."

The bell rings and I do not notice as my students rush from the room loudly. Even when Nana and Jinketsu approach me I am still absorbed in my work.

I must uncover a new and more efficient means of power!
