Samuel Adams Winter Lager is out.

So tonight?

We have marvelous chili and cornbread muffins.

The KU-OSU football game is on, and the Hawks are winning. (Again.) :cathappy:

And we're topping it all off with Winter Lager.

My husband just looked over to me with that same expression Ray Liotta had in Field of Dreams and asked - "Is this heaven?"

It just might be.

Omg! Omg!

Winter Lager is out!

Woohoo!!

Hasn't got here yet but I'm gonna be on the lookout. :D

Would 2 cases be overdoing it?

Only if you drink them all by yourself in one night.

On the other hand, two cases is only 24 nights of sharing one with a friend or lover; it's not even a month's supply -- better get three. :p (or six if you want to stock up through New Years.)

Hey - time is flying by too quickly!!!

I still have 3/4 case of Octoberfest!!! I think I need to have a party to get rid of it :)

Woohoo!

Just picked up 4 12 packs of the nectar of the gods.

And I've already downed 3!

So if my posts make less sense than usual, you'll know why. ;)

Sam rules!!! :D

I believe I had the winter lager a week and a half ago or so. So we've had it here for a couple weeks. It's good, although I almost always like Sam Adams.

Seasonal Samuel Adams... good lager.

On your side the pond? Black Sheep. I like the Holy Grail.

The problem is to me, that lager = pale, fizzy, gnats-pea strength scandinavian/Dutch/German beer.

Can't stand them.

A good, traditional English beer, dark, nutty, rich, thick......something like a 'Speckled Hen......................

Then you're going to like Black Sheep. There's ale and there's lager, and the two are different, as you say. No sense wasting your effort to secure the Winter Lager if lager isn't your friend.

But the Yorkshire brewery does ale, and it's damn' good ale.

Indeed it is. I like my beer from the cask, not from pressurised container, through a gas-aided pump. And there's a definite pleasure in watching a skilled barman/maid drawing a pint from a cask, using the old fashioned draw pumps - man, they have biceps to die for!!

I don't think I've come across Black Sheep, I'm going to have to look out for it and try it.

I only know Samuel Adams from Family Guy (and the new Whole Foods Market store in London sells it)

Sounds interesting stuff, but I'm not sure if I see the point of seasonal lager. Isn't that a gimmick or is there some actual difference (aside from the price, lol) with the other lagers they brew?

my first true brew love. *le sigh*

although, last weekend, for the first time ever...

i brewed my very own batch of ale. im crossing fingers and hoping that it turns out half way decent. we shall know in four weeks---ish.

It is a different flavored brew. Price stays the same. Part of that is marketing, make something more scarce or in limited supply to induce you to buy. But still there are some that feel that the season inspires the beer of choice. For example there are some that would never drink a summer wheat beer in the dead of winter.

Stock up, there's a Hops shortage that is likely to drive up the price of Microbrews.

I've become quite fond of Black Butte Porter myself.
