One more example of how the "Marriage is only one man, one woman" crowd is sticking it to the LGBT community, courtesy of the Federal Government.

You know my views on taxes....I would rather scrap the income tax and drastically shrink the Federal Government, but leaving aside those issues which divide me from most Litizens here, surely we agree that this is wrong.

I think it is the same over here.
But we do not call it a same-sex marriage; it's a 'civil union', but has the same effect for the purposes of Tax and Inheritance, etc..
It strikes me (in my admited ignorance) that if the USA had a similar expression, there's be less fuss.

fun fact: it is likely that the concept of marriage came into human culture as a means to bind a woman to one man to prevent her from being raped by anyone who cared to have a go. for much of early history, women were expected to be married and start bearing children in their teens, or even as early as 12 years old.

just saying, that whole "sacred" institution defense is kind of hilarious. we obviously changed the rules of marriage quite a bit since then, so letting 2 people who wont contribute to overpopulation and are statistically just all around better at maintaining their relationships marry cant be all that heretical a change.

eh, its just a matter of time. interracial or inter-faith couples couldnt marry in the past either.
